    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Carb Leaks (I’ve checked Everywhere!)

Guys I’m at the end of my rope ; I really don’t want to sell my GS but im at the point where I’ve done literally all that I can possibly do to the carburetors but they continue to leak in different locations every time I reassemble them. Bigger problem; this has prevented me from riding any motorcycles this year and it’s destroying my mental health- constant fights with spouse, money spent, scrounging thru the resources for help, yet the bike stays upright in the garage on the center-stand with leaking carbs. Yes new hardware is being used for the rebuilds, clean tank, clean fuel, filter, float heights and yada yada yada. All of it. Has anybody moved on from the GS platform simply from it being too much to maintain? Sorry for the long winded moaning session but guys I literally have nobody else to talk to about this stuff. I can’t afford a newer bike that doesn’t require a bunch of maintenance like these old ones.
 
Only a few things that can leak. Bowl gaskets, fuel tube orings, float seat orings if they are CV carbs, cracked overflow tubes. Cracked tubes can be soldered. Put a tube on the overflow nipple and fill the bowl with water. Put a finger over the top of the tube and blow into the line. If its cracked youll see bubbles.
Oring kits are available from NESSISM. Just PM him. Bowl gaskets can only take so much compression and torquing real hard can easily strip threads in the bodies. And if your just done with it I rebuild carbs and can help you out. PM me if you want and give me your number. Where are you located and what year and model is the bike.
 
Totally understand your frustration but thinking may be when you find and get it fixed you should be good for a while. Years ago I had my CV carbs off 3 or 4 times, looking for a problem, before I found there were "O" rings on the needle seats, yes, that was my problem. A little more info may be good, what bike, what carbs, what area is the drip or leak showing up at?

‘82 GS650L. Dude I just don’t understand man, I payed meticulous attention to every single o-ring inside of each carb, especially those at the bottom of the seats. New bowl gaskets too; threads are strong. It only weeps gas out of the big air intake hole on the carb; jumping between 1 and 2 cylinder no matter the settings.
I live in Central Ohio; I’d be more than willing to have them rebuilt by someone else at this point cuz dude no BS I’ve had those carbs off the bike and split apart and troubleshot them for more hours than I’ve ever been able to ride the damn thing.

I was very careful when inspecting these specific o-rings at the bottom of the seats. All other o-ring hardware seems fine. Just wants to keep spilling fuel out of the air intake hole on either #1 or #2 no matter what the heights are set at.
 
Where are you attaching the fuel line? I had a guy bring a bike into y shop and he had fuel lines going to the black plastic VENTS. I too tat messcoff and out fuel to the tee between 2 and 3. I swear to God i actually laughed out loud when i saw it... in front of him no less.
