A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just my two cents here, but if this bike is truely a daily driver, I, having recently done this, and pulled what was left of my hair out while messing with it for the longest, would advise against it. The ONLY reason I continued to fiddle with, and thanks to Terry (BlowerBike) Bill (Chef) and Jim (posplayr) and countless other people who helped, conquered it, was because I DONT have an airbox for my 1100ES. (Currently looking for one, if anyone has one they'd like to part with) While she runs pretty damn good (just got home from a 2400 mile trip on her) If i had an airbox, it would be on it. As a daily driver, PODS SUCK....weather changes, temp changes or god forbid sucking up RAIN into them make the pods too finicky. Just my two cents again, but the HP gained from pods, especially on CV carbs, is far less than the amount of hasstle incurred.

I'd have to +1 TheCafeKid. I think you spend too much time riding your bike to do something like this. And as he said, an open port to the world might not be the best idea, especially where we live. You look outside lately?

Both your opinions are based on CV carbs. As Chef said, The VM carbs DO benefit from the jet kit. I have absolutely NO issues with my jet kit. My 1000 runs perfect on all circuits. Great idle, great cruising, and pulls hard and smooth in any gear.

Pods and VM carbs are easy as pie to tune.

CV carbs, not so much.
Agreed..Also Bruce, you live in a pretty arid climate. Yes you get snow I know, but alot of rain? I dunno. I dont remember Nevada getting alot to begin with, but i never spent much time in Reno either. I will also agree that the VMs are MUCH MUCH MUCH easier to tune for pods, easier to tune period (aside from the fact that you have to completely resync if you play with the needles at all...) But the fact still remains, that especially with him living in Oregon, a relatively moist climate where the weather can swing pretty drasticly, he may notice it much more than yourself. I didnt see that he was tuning on VMs so I will say he'll have a much easier time than I...

Yes, it's very dry here in the summer. 8%-12% humidity on average, and not much rain.

You let Tipivot? get into your head. He was messing with you.

Oh no, he didnt bug me. I KNOW they are succeptable to temp/weather changes. I can tell how my bike runs differently. Its not enough for me to give a crap honestly, but it DOES happen. I CAN for sure tell you that when it rains hard, they will suck some water up, and low RPMs and idle suffer a bit. Again, not enough for me to freak out about it, but it is a bit annoying. I am simply suggesting if you are using it as a daily rider, *I* think you'll be happier leaving it alone.. If you're trying to squeeze every little bit of power out of it, by all means, Pod away;)

You plan on running a 100cmf head with a stock airbox?

All you guys and your pod love crack me up. Spend $140+ on K&N's that don't scrub the air very well and let dirt through, spend another $100+ on a jet kit, all to gain about 2-3 hp and add a bunch of intake noise and reduce the bikes ability to deal with inclement weather. Some upgrade.

It sure is good to get all of these opinions from people who have a lot more knowledge than I on the matter. Saves us from doing something that will cause us to pull out more hair than we are already losing due to the aging process.
My 78 GS 1000 has the stock airbox so I will not be messing with any pod changes or re-jetting but man, every time I go to remove/install the carbs, I wish I had a better way of doing it than fighting that damned airbox. Mr. Suzuki could have found a better way to deal with this issue IMHO.

The airbox issue is the original reason I threw that thing as far as I could. It gained me more than 2-3 HP but I have a very open Kerker pipe. This just started the bug for more and more!
I attack new things with a passion few have seen. It was a pita to jet the bike with all these mods but keep a log and be persistant. I have perfect heat range and great color on the plugs at this point and am perfectly happy with low end and top end. A great learning experience and it all started with this site!

Just in case it might interest someone, my 750 came with a Race Only 4into1 exhaust with half the baffles knocked out, and the stock airbox, but No air filter.

I fitted a TUV (German) approved road 4into1 and muffler and put a stock air filter in, and it made absolutely no difference to the way the thing runs as far as I can tell.

It runs just fine. I have no idea what jets are in there.
