I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pete, I've more sand blasting to do before I can update this thread. I will let you in on a little advance notice, I'm sectioning two or three petrol (fuel) tank floats to make one good one out of them.... wish me luck!
Dale..Just a thought. I used Chandlers paint scenario on skunk number one. Only thing is the "new cast aluminum" looks a bit OFF to me. By that i mean it has a bit of a duller tinge than the Universal aluminum. In any case for skunk 2 its gonna be the much brighter and silvery universal on the entire engine and tranny. I have even considered pulling the engine again and removing it from the tranny and cases and repainting it. It passes but its not right.
Chuck, VHT universal aluminum is exactly what I had planned on using.
Yes..Its SP127 ( I think ) on the bottom of the can codes..on everything.

Yup..that was as close as a match as i could get..even though it does have very tiny , almost unnoticeable metal flake. I did look for just plain non metallic but didnt find any?? You may have better luck though.

Herr Hahn, your stuff is top quality, I always follow your threads but like Pete said, can't name all the guys that impress me with their work, bugger getting old, when I bend down to tie my shoes I wonder what else I can do while I am down there. 
Good place this, and I consider all of the members friends, if I don't consider someone a friend, they will know about it in short order, make no mistake, of course I am closer to some members than others.
Being on the other side of the pond makes it a long distance relationship with its associated unique problems. A lot of the time, I want to kak in pants when I see what you guys pay for bikes and the vast resources you guys have to parts and after market goodies, such as fleabay and the hordes of various parts vendors.
Over here it is pretty much Suzuki or a breakers yard, the stealerships are clueless and the breakers yards are thieves.
But members here such as Dale and others are generous to a fault when trying to help and for to those I will be forever indebted and go out of my way to reciprocate the kindness, I guess these are the things that friendships over distances are built on, and I am eternally grateful for them.
Now keep the updates coming so I can steal more of your ideas.

This is becoming scary!
I have never tried the 25 part epoxy type XXXYYYZZZ which can withstand 6 million degrees Celcius and comes in 5 million colours using only organic materials and gives you a choice of 500 fragrances!
Its really amazing how supportive and enthusiastic the members on this forum become when a new project kicks off!
Dale, I wish I had the perseverance and patience you have. Remember I have some of your work here and have seen how you approach things!

Powder coating process was invented in the late 40's so I don't think it's a stretch. I am not sure but the frame coating is pretty durable.
That was something memories are made out of... glad to have been a small part of it.
Duplicolor makes a charcoal wheel paint that's a pretty good match... http://duplicolor.com/products/wheelCoating/ Not sure how it compares to that other stuff as noted though.
Universal Aluminum paint is what I used. It's a decent match for the cylinder/head paint Suzuki used, just a little duller. The valve cover and top crankcase half paint Suzuki used is different all together. Good luck matching that stuff. I didn't even try.

Not much to add to the thread but it's something.
I bought these from wisgolfer59. very nice units that will go will on the finished product. (***note*** brackets missing in photo)
I bought these from skubasteve! they are as close to new as one will find out there.

I couldn't find a reasonable fuel tank sending unit to rplace the old rusty unit that came on the bike, so I made one out of the 2-1/2 senders I did have.

top unit in the photo is the original unit.
middle unit is the pieces to be assembled including the plate without the sender that came on the replacement skunk tank I bought off Ebay.
bottom unit was the donor sending unit I took the 'level sensor' from.
***details***
first I removed the center riveted connector (plastic) so it wouldn't melt when I brazed the pieces together. them brazed the 'level sensor' to the base plate, re-assembled the center connector by re-staking it with various punches, soldered new wires from the sender to the contact and the harness side of the senders wiring leads on the outside of the plate.
the completed unit that was re-assembled from a bare plate on up.

Chuck, nothing was wrong with it. in fact it was the donor unit. the reason I changed the plates was because the wires on the sender you sent me came off in the wrong direction.
I know, it's a bit anal isn't it.. oh well, that's the way I do things sometimes

They all come off the plate facing the rear of the tank. Dont ask me why but that how they were made.
