It seems less, but it was twenty-three years ago when four GSR members in the Toronto area met and began to ride together.
Initially, Tim White, a very large man, had a GS850, Mysuzyq an 1100E, Carmen an 1100E and I had an 1100G.
Three of us bought different bikes in later years and Mysuzyq was the only one that stayed with the same bike.
When I last saw it in 2023 it was still pristine.

Tim stopped riding and I have not seen him for a few years, and when it happened I had the sad duty to report Carmen's passing here on GSR .

Yesterday I met MysuzyQ at the Toronto Motorcycle Supershow (No, I do not have photos to offer).
We both bought new helmets there in 2023 and needed no other equipment right now, but we enjoyed the sights and talking to others.
After lots of walking and looking at the almost endless fare being presented to us, we got to talk together over coffee.
The conversation topics are not important, but the opportunity to be with him again after more than a year was simply great.

Tony is definitely in the top level of men I have met in my life. He is not just a good rider, but is highly intelligent, a rare gentleman, and truly a good friend.

My thanks to Frank and to GSR :)

Great post Ron! I have to say that since I joined the GSR in 2005 or so I have met some of the most high quality people through this forum and at the rides and rallies that have been hatched from it. I can truthfully say that riding and the GS Resources site have enriched my life.

Very cool. I've only ever met one short term GSR member in person, but have made some very important connections thru this site. I'm better for it and appreciative.

Since I joined in 2018, I've had the pleasure of meeting a bunch of you in person: most at last year's BC Rally, which I'm really looking forward to again. I've had one member crash on my couch as he was passing through. I've stayed over at another's. Even met up to camp at a primitive site with another, and again camping at a legit campground and weekend group ride. A couple of brothers met close by and treated me to a great lunch at a Russian restaurant. One just stopped by for a quick visit and we checked out some local twisties. A few of us converse regularly via email off-site about any number of topics more personal than just our motorcycles. I consider them some of the best friends I've made in the last 20 years, even the one's I've never met in person. All because of this somewhat obscure passion we all seem to share.

I joined back in 2006 when I was looking for parts for Susie Q. Since then I have attended rallies in north and south Cal. Canada and have hosted 4 rallies of my own. It has been several years now since the last rally. I miss the guys n gals that I’ve met, the roads traveled, the bon fires, home cooking, a little beer and some laughs. Most wou ld give the shirt off their back if need be.

Anyone want to have another PNW rally?

I miss those rally's as well Vince. I would be up for trying to organize another BC rally....I'm likely going for my annual May trip to California but with our dollar difference I will likely stay at home for the rest of the riding season. Man if I was an American I sure would be taking advantage of the dollar exchange rate and come see Canada.

I'll be on the west coast in September - you may be an American by then ! :excitement::excitement::excitement:

If they bring along the poutine and all-dressed chips, I say they're more than welcome. :p

Lol...I doubt that :joyous:...where you going to be?

San Francisco - San Jose.

I don't suppose there's a train that runs from there up to you? We could have an impromptu, ad hoc 'safety meeting."

Right now, West New York is in New Jersey, and East New York is in Brooklyn. Maybe Greenland will become East East New York, and Vancouver Island will be West West New York! :excitement::excitement::excitement::excitement::excitement::excitement::excitement::excitement::excitement::excitement::excitement::excitement:

Look out, we're comin' to get ya! :greedy_dollars::greedy_dollars::greedy_dollars:

You may be one of those that want to HELP AMERICA FIGHT THE CANADIANS! :)

Not sure if this link will work, but the movie "Canadian Bacon" has that theme and it is worth watching.. One of John Candy;s best.

You might want to check your geography.

He lives on an island, in the ocean. Also, states are a bit bigger out here.

You could take the train, or fly, to Seattle and take the ferry over to Victoria.
Don't forget your passport.

Hey Todd, if I did a GSR rally in BC this summer, would you be interested?

I've gone to about 10 rallies in the west starting with one in Yosemite in 2008. Met lots great people, lots of great rides and a more than a few campfires, beers and tall tales. Even hosted a rally in 2014. And yes Trevor if you do something and the stars align properly I'll show up. Maybe even show up anyway. LOL.

I had a great time at your rally! In 2014 I had only been back on a bike for a couple years....since then I have learned a great deal about the great riding in BC....and know of routes and places to stay. I'm going to start a plan. :)
