Guys installed a Dyna S on my GS1100E, followed the instructions and only get spark on 1-4 side of the rotor,what gives??? and on only one coil, put the old one back on and works fine!!

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

use an ohmmeter and check the resistance on the primry and secondary side. I believe you have the green 3 ohm primary side coils. I dont know what the resistance should be for the secondary. Have you re installed the Dyna just to see if there was a bad connection the first time you installed it??

Check the trouble shoot info in their booklet. From what I remember, they gave a quick/complete guide to pinpoint any problems. I think if you temporarily swap the black and white leads and the spark follows, they could have sold you a bad sensor/module. Hope it's just a connection.

Keith, Dont you think that if one coil works perfectly that the trouble can not be in the pickup or the black box??
The Dyna "S" uses two sensors/pick ups. One for each coil. If a sensor fails, that coil won't spark. There is no black box involved with the Dyna "S".scotty said:

I thought he said that when he replaced one of the dynaa coils with the original coil it worked. I Dont think he put the original pickup back in to the bike. With the dyna dual pickup setup and one dyna and one original coil it workes normally. i'll still stick with trying the new dyna back in and then if it doesnt work normally i will condemn the new coil and rule out a temporaty bad connectionKEITH KRAUSE said:

If he has correct voltage going to both coils, then it seems like a bad coil.

Guys thanks for all the feed back, what I did was put the old rotor back on and all worked fine, timed it and went to the strip, coils seem fine, this all happened when I first hooked it up, went by the instructions and spark only on the 1-4 side (outside cylinders), maybe my connections were'nt good will try again...Thanks
