A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

well it happened, i pooped myself almost. was in the right lane of a 4 laner and traffic was stopped and lined up in the left. i had my eye on the traffic and some young, presumably new driver pulled right out in front of me. i had to lock both front and rear tires to stop in timr then sped past the driver shaking my head. here is the best part, this driver followed me to my destination about a block up the road and apologized for almost killing me. guess what she said, "i didnt see you" so i gave her a verbal lesson on looking before leaping and left it at that. im gonna go change my shorts now

Atleast she was responsible enough to admit her fault and nice enough to follow you for as long as she did just to appologize. It probably shook her up as well. I had a driver nearly squeeze me out turning into my lane on the freeway and after giving them the finger when they smiled and shrugged, they decided to pull ahead of me and turn their windsheild wipers w/ fluid on

I hope you didn't blow up on her too bad.

not to bad, just enough to get the point across after all she did say sorry

Early in the season is a rough time of the year to ride. Take extra care. People have had all winter to not look for us even more than usual. Glad you're ok.

Had my first real ride yesterday myself. Someone almost left-turned in front of me on an otherwise empty road, but fortunately for me stopped just a few feet after they started. Still made me chirp my brakes and really got my attention though! Took some fun out of the rest of the ride too.

Glad you made it out OK.

At least you invited her in,right?

Being young and impressionable, perhaps your stern admonition will have a lasting effect and help her to be more bike-aware for the rest of her life. Your close call may save some other biker's life.

And to her credit, she was able to face you and apologize. Gives one hope she is also humble enough to learn from her mistake.

we can only pray she learns a lesson from this, but im sure she is looking twice now

Yes to what Josh said..They have been closed off from cycle traffic for about 5 to 6 months and a cager doesnt think outside the box like a cycle rider has too. Be carefull and leave lots of adjustment distance for you in traffic and at stop signs and lights..and keep your eyes on the mirrors at stops..tailending isnt anything i wish on anyone on a bike!!

Distancing

Distancing

Two days ago, I was behind a dually 4-wheel drive Dodge that was pulling a trailer with two ATVs on it. We were on a pretty curvy road (RR12) that runs from Dripping Springs to Wimberley. On a curve, this guy's left front tire blew out at about 60 mph. He lost control, veered across the oncoming lane, slammed into a guard rail, came back over our lane, and into the ditch. Pieces of the tire and other parts were going everywhere. If I wasn't prudently distanced from it all, it could have been ugly. I'm sure glad that those ATVs stayed on that trailer and that there wasn't an oncoming vehicle.

A few years ago, in southern Missouri, I was on my Ultra and had a crated hot tub, on a trailer, that wasn't secured slide off onto the road in front of me. Fortunately, I saw the idiot's set up and stayed way behind him since I couldn't pass. It was really no big deal to me, but my wife flipped out.
