A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Friday afternoon safety meeting.

One might start to get suspicious about the true nature of these so-called “safety meetings”

:very_drunk: Happy New Year, Trevor.

The things you have to do to get your buddies to come over to shovel snow. I bet you don't have a CBC Daybreak sweat shirt either. Happy New Year my friend.

Haha.....Happy New Year my friend! Snow is long gone here and I'm actually going dirt biking today with Rob (AZR) and a couple of other buddies. :)

Another successful Friday Afternoon Safety Meeting!
First one of 2023! Happy New Year. :)

Remember what I was saying about the eccentric collectors and collections on the Island? Well I got an invitation to see something very special in nearby Sooke.
First an article about the man

Among the cars Forbes is most proud of is his Canadian-only 1958 Pontiac Parisienne convertible and matching American-built 1958 Pontiac Bonneville convertible, which is awaiting restoration. Although both cars look alike, they are very different. The Parisienne was built in Canada on a Chevrolet platform, borrowing its frame and mechanical components from its sister car. The American Bonneville is larger because it is built on an Oldsmobile platform and is powered by a unique and much larger 371 cubic inch engine. Forbes’ rare example has factory tri-power carburetion. Ted Forbes bought his first car at the age of 14. Growing up on a farm in Souris, Manitoba, he loved machinery and cars specifically.

Those are probably the ugliest cars I've ever seen. I mean they're beautiful but hideous. And I used to drive an AMC Gremlin so I would know.

Lol…agreed! Not my style at all… I liked the truck the most. But I can appreciate the cars for sure.

Vancouver Island would seem to have more vintage vehicle enthusiasts per capita than anywhere else on the planet. Except maybe Cuba? ;)

I've noticed that myself .... A quarter of the size of the UK and less than 900.000 people a large number of who are vintage motorcycle and car collectors ..... A fair number with deep pockets ..... I don't know what is in their air but it must be " vintage " oxygen ........

I think the fact that we have so many people from other parts of Canada that end up retiring here because of the climate...we get guys with money (because we know it ain't cheap to live here) that were maybe collecting already, decide to up their game while here....and as Cipher says, no salt and rusting vehicles helps.....plus the island is for sure known to attract the weird....I mean I'm here....Lol :p

Lol that would be a good reason for me to move here. :excitement:
The first year I lived here I had 14 family members and friends come visit
Never have I had a problem with family or friends coming to visit lol

B.C. is known as Bring Cash. Relatively decent climate brings in the retired from other places in Canada. The problem with the island is the inconvenient and highly priced ferries, plus you have to drive through the Vancouver area on top of that to get over there. We thought of moving to Qualicum Beach but I figured no one would ever visit us over there.

Is that near Echo Beach or not so far away?
