    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i got a rolling chassis of a gsx 600f the frontend went on like it ws made for it . still sorting the backend get back soon. :D

the rear end fits once you grind out the lugs on the inside of the frame . make it flush with the rest of the frame . tha old swingarn was of a older gsx 700 not sure though but it s the same box alloy they used on a lot of models . comparing the distance of the rear spocket to the inside of the arm the 600 is a little closer meaning i'll have to bring the drive sprocket out a few mills . any ideas would be helpful . thats all for now.
 
Not sure what model bike you have but here is how I got my drive sprocket lined up. I've got an '88 750 front end on mine which appears to be just about the same unit as yours. On the back I have a 4.5" wheel in my stock swingarm. You can use some of the sprocket lock washers behind the sprocket to move it out. As long as you can catch the splines for the real lock washer that's all you need. You can also grind down an old sprocket to use behind the drive sprocket.

it say's gs1000e on the frame i think its 78 or 79 .

new problem i need to get a drive procket to match the rear will i have to get one cut or could the fitting on the drive shaft be the same as some later models . i haven't got a 600 sprocket at the moment to see if it would match up. spashed out on a copy of streetfighers mag sen a gs 1000 witha 1200 bandit engine droped in looked easy enough .
have a set of hangers of a zzr 600 fitted look the biz . any got a web address for people who do cafe racer still seats . i gonna go for the mad max toe clipper style LONG LIVE THE NIGHT RIDER lol.
 
I know anything through about a mid '90s GSXR, GSF, and so on will fit. Give Vortex a call. They can help. They even have some with offsets. Just do a search for Vortex Sprockets.
 
If you used the 4.5" wheel with a 5 bolt sprocket carrier you need to look at sprockets for GSF600 models, '89 and up. 6 bolt look at early '90s GSXR750 sprockets.
 
Go to JT Sprockets website- you can pull up any year Suzuki and reference what sprockets interchange- it gives the dimensions and bolt patterns. I was amazed to find that the front GS750 sprocket interchanges with many GSXR and Katana years. I used their site for reference and ordered thru Vortex on my recent 520 conversion for my GS750 with 4.5 in rear. Good Luck, Ed

Something I learned back in the early '90s simply because I wasn't satisfied with my bike was that Suzuki was slow to change some of the major specs. They were known for going to the parts shelf to carry things over that didn't need changing. Some of that was just to use an industry standard to make designing easier with less tooling.

My bike was a guinea pig and photographs pretty good. Up close though you can see the scabs of some of the mods and scars from its life of being ridden and abused pretty hard. There are quite a few things that will look different the next time I go through the bike. After that it's not going to be much of a daily rider.

went lookin through jt's web site found what i was looking for and a whole lot more . i felt like a right sap when i found out i had got a sprocket that would fit . the old one of my zzr fitted perfect on the staft but i noticed the diameter of it is alot smaller than the gs one also the gsx600 is the same too. it states that a standard procket for the gsx6 14 teeth but they have many options from 12 to 18 .should i be shopping for an 18 . as far as the chains are concerned the gsx and the zzr have the same chain just different lenghts for the gsx the part number is 530 htp 112 and the zzr is 530 htp 110 . i take the last three numbers are for the lenght of the chain .when i line up the old chain i have for the z i was about six links short of it meeting up . i was thinking getting a new 530 and see if the dealer can find a longer verion or ad a few links.
 
I have a 17 toioth on the front of my 83 and it needed a little machining to the case (done with rotary file and drill) just so it could turn. not sure if the older models had more room there or not , just a heads up :)

there's lots of room i just need a larger sprocket to give me a bit more clearance over the swingarm if i can an 18 tooth sprog it near enough the the same diameter as the old gs one . thats my guess anyway.
