A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

what kind of gas mileage do you get out of your old GS? My 1980 GS450 has in the past gotten over 60 mpg while riding around state highways in CT going between 40 and 50 or so mph. After cleaning my carbs out, replacing the intake and airbox boots, replacing the vacuum and gas lines, I just refueled for the first time this season, and got 55 mpg (mostly highway at around 55 or so).

My 1100 L delivers 50+ at 65 or better most times. My 450 Rebel tops at 62mpg at 65. My 850 45 mpg. My 900 45mpg. So be happy you are doing pretty good.

On average im at about 55mpg. I havent even attempted to econo ride it yet.

My 450 get about 55+ when I'm averaging 60mph. Around, less. The 650 gets 45-48 at 65mph. Around town it's less. To many warm ups and jack rabbit starts. My town is only 3 miles long and 3 lights.

on my 82 gs550 katana, i run a pretty steady 43 mpg. thats about half and half city highway. of course its lower with my jetting, 4-1 and pods.

Wife's 850 has gotten a low of 28 and a high of 59, most of the time in the mid- to upper-40s.

Son's 850 hasn't been run very much, but the few times it's been out it's been in the low- to mid-40s

I haven't even gotten my 850 yet, so I don't know. :-k

on your 1100. what did u do to get that hi of gas milage?

I bet he spent some time tuning it.
Slapping on a jet kit won't get you there.

On the highway, taking it easy, I can easily see over 45 mpg. In the boonies, twisties, using both wrists and feet, it can drop to 35 mpg.

I got 38 on a really windy day, and 43 as a high so far, my riding is half or more in the city. That's on my 85 Gs700ES

My personal best on the 650 was two weeks ago, on premium 92 octain off road non-oxygenated fuel from the local Cenex...53 mpg!

Usually in the upper 30's to mid 40's. :o

my 81 1100e i get about 35-40 in town and 40-45 on highway running 70

I'm about 180lbs and don't really ride agressive, but I have. (Sideways on one wheel off the turn.......... hard on the brakes to back her into the next turn.....back on the rear wheel sliding the ol' girl through the middle and off the turn......... ooooohhh goose bumps). My honey's about 110lbs. I have an 83 550e bone stock. Stock airbox, carbs, and exhaust. Riding by myself I get between 50-65 mpg. With the girl onthe back about 40-50.

I only ride city, so I get 35-40, seems low but I never get over 40mph...

plus I am 260lbs...

On my 81 GS450 I consistently have gotten high 50's to low 60's, mostly freeway at 75+mph. On my '79 GS1000l it's been mid to high 40's for the last 6k miles, mixed riding.
