DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

The views expressed in this forum are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of "The GSResources" or the editors.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Gear Update Time

Wow, it's been a long time since I really posted anything so hopefully I remember how to do this.:cool:

I should really consider replacing my jacket this year as though it still works great, the Joe Rocket Alter Ego 3.0 is definitely showing its age no matter how much I try to clean it. As that jacket was an all-weather model and no longer offered by Joe Rocket (not even their Alter Ego 4.0 is available), I'm thinking I'll buy a separate Mesh and Textile jacket this year.

Unfortunately, I am not too thrilled with what I am finding both in the store and online right now. Yes, I know it's still early in the year but since my birthday is just around the corner, I figured I would splurge before the season gets into full swing.

Does anyone have any recommendations on jackets to look for? Yes, I am still on the larger side so anything I buy will need to be a 2X.

Thanks all.

I prefer Schott leather (and other) jackets. They have a good website and many selections.

Check out Sedici brand.
I'm not sure of the style I have but it fits me pretty good.
For the Sedici brand pants. Since I have a short inseam, the lady sizes have a reduced inseam compared to the mens. 29" vs 32" FYI
Take a ride up to Iron Pony. Try on some gear... Good luck

Yea Norm, Iron Pony was a little short in anything I liked a couple of weeks ago but I'll keep looking and will check out the Sedici jacket. My Joe Rocket pants are pretty new still and I like them

Rev-it & Klim are my favorites outside of my Motoport Gear (which has held up about 14 years & counting although it needs to go back for new elastic & velcro now) or Aerostich are also well thought of but I've never had any (Nardy's love theirs...).

I had Rukka for a while, that was good gear.

The Olympia gear used to be a good budget option but you can't get it any more.

I guess the best gear is the stuff you wear.... but I always also take a look at materials, stitching stuff like that. Polyester gear is really only good for low speed stuff. Nylon preferably with the right weave for added protection is better. Even 500D Cordura is better than "Ballistic" Polyester for example.

Joe Rocket, Sedici, Cortech, Tourmaster etc are all on the budget scale material wise but occasionally they come up with something good. Alpinestars stuff is decent if you pick & choose the right materials.
I've met the helmet house guys (Cortech, Tourmaster etc) and they are at least all keen riders, looking to give good features etc. They will be first to admit their gear is designed down to a price.
