    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

  • In order to help others find info on a particular bike, be sure to put the year, make or model of bike that you are asking a question about, in the Topic Title. This will allow people to pass by posts they have no interest in.

My son was in his Grandpa's garage and noticed something interesting in the corner.



He showed enough interest that they uncovered it and pulled it out to get a better look. Turned out to be a '75 F7 that's been forgotten about for years. I thought at one time about giving my boy the KLR but this is even better for him. I can't remember the last time he was this excited. He's 21 now and hasn't had a motorcycle since his 50cc in second grade. We got it to run tonight but have a lot to do before he can ride it. Dirt only for this one.



 
I think I had on of those when I was a kid. If I remember right it had some type of weird "Rotary valve disc thingy" inside that had disintegrated and I had to buy a new one to get it to run. I'm sure finding parts now will be a little tougher than it was in 1982 when I had mine.
I may still have a repair book for it somewhere.

I suppose its a thing related to being a casual motorcyclist, but I could never understand how one forget about having one.

I was thinking the same thing! I would give my left nut for something similar in worse shape even! (Though to sell a teste would gain me around 32k... ;) )
 
I had the 175 version. It was my second bike. Yes they have a rotary valve on them and they were tough to get to run right but with the internet now, if you can get parts the running issue should be solvable. It was fast as heck.

Well, my boy never forgot about riding. He sort of holds on to some hard feelings for selling that little bike.

When I married my wife and gained three more kids, taking the bikes out became an ordeal. It became less and less fun due to family complications. We sold his 50cc, my wife's XT225 and my KLR650 all within a year or two and had no bikes for several years.



This may be a slow going project but we'll eventually get it running.
