DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi all, one of the air valves on my GK shocks broke today. I need to know if there are any good replacements out there. I need them asap as the bike is my main transportation. I am a big guys so stiff/Heavy duty shocks would be the best.

What is the length of the stock shock btw?

Thanks

Lou

Partsnmore.com has good prices on shocks, and the springs are stiff so they should suit you. The bushing are reputed to be pretty crappy but Basscliff has a tutorial on how to replace them when the time comes.

Hi,

For those MDI/EMGO shocks, you'll want to replace the foam rubber bushings...

If you can, keep the sleeves from the old shocks or fab some new ones. You may have to trim the new bushings to fit and/or drill out the inside diameter.

I found these bushings at my local AutoZone too, but in a different package...

Hi,

FWIW, there are other places online that sell those shocks. I got mine from Cycle Recycle II, but I paid a few dollars more.

I think Parts-n-More has the best price. That could be why they are out of stock all the time. ;)

Why would you want to replace 30 year old shocks with another set of 30 year old shocks? Just wondering.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I have a set of heavy duty "progressive" brand springs for sale if you can get hold of some shock bodies. They were on sale for about $140 I believe.

I'm 165lb & use the stock ones on the lowest setting so these should be right for you :)

just a bump, the wife made an executive decision and we are going with new shocks. Anyone know what the proper length is for a GK?

Tape measure?

To measure it to know.:)

Hi,

I'm not exactly sure, but the GK shocks are probably 340mm (13.25 inches), 330mm (13 inches) at the least. Measure eye to eye (eye to clevis? bolt to bolt?) to be sure.

Thank you for your indulgence,

I would recommend thevprogressivesxat the price they are at in the sale right now if you're going with new unless Z1 has the Ikons in stock in the right length etc, then go for those...
