DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just an update guys.
Finally received my gaskets and bearings from Suzuki.
I also got a Vesrah gasket set cheap for case covers etc.
I did notice in the Vesrah set the base gasket is steel and is an exact copy of the oem one. I was expecting the cheap paper ones. I guess you never know what you get. On the base gasket do you guys put any sealant on it. When I removed the old one it had left a silver residue behind which I had to clean off with scotchbrite and acetone?

Cheers

Got a cylinder last night. Paid a little more that what I wanted but it still worked out to be the same price if I was to get my cylinders bored.
So back to Suzuki for some more parts now.
Did a dry practice fit on the cases last night as well. Want to make sure I know how to align the forks etc.

Cheers

Just a few pics to show some progress.
Waiting for my cylinder and some gaskets before I close the cases.
Question what causes the vertical marks on the piston. (attached pic)
All four have similar marks.

Cheers Guys
Paul

Some light vertical marks indicate some passing of foreign material. Doesn't necessarily indicate engine damage.

Deeper scoring, typically on the exhaust side may indicate a lubrication failure.

Well I received my cylinder block today.
I'm ****ed off, rust in one cylinder, too much too hone out and the packing sucked which lead to one fin broken.
The description was dead wrong, you can see the rust where a ring had been. Also they charged enough for shipping you would think they would just add some foam or something, not just plop it in a cardboard box.
I have contacted the seller to see if he will make this right.
Everytime something like this happens I always ask myself why do we dick around with these old bikes.

Paul

That sucks pauly. I'd be really pis$ed off.

Couple of things: is the base gasket metal or the head gasket? Or both? If the base gasket is soft gasket material, please get an OEM part. Also consider getting new OEM rubber seals, if there are any (I'm not familar with the 1150 engine). Hate to see you struggle with leaking aftermarket gaskets.

Good luck

Sorry to hear that Pauly! That sucks big time!

Seller is offering a partial refund.
Now what, do I just eat it and take what I can get?

Cheers
Paul

I was going to keep it stock, didn't want to re-bore or I could have used my original block.
How can you swap sleeves?
Does it need to be heated up really hot?

Cheers
Paul
