A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I like the 705, I run without tubes. I ride a lot of forest gravel and dirt roads. The one flat I had could have been easily fixed at road side with a plug kit and compressor. I now carry both. I could not fathom attempting a tube swap or repair on the trail/roadside.

Honestly man this is going to be a complete toy. I don't know how oftenit will see anything more than grass. Mostly just asphalt. I ride a VTX 1800 retro most of the time and I just wanted something light and fun to ride. My vtx1800 is life 750 pounds I want something light weight to enjoy

Got the tires mounted and the kick stand on yesterday. Finally have a rolling chassis!

A buddy has a VTX and i had to push it around in his garage.
Certainly the weight is down low but it is a pig.

Success on the roller status. Keep at it!

Thanks! The vtx1800 is a an absolute monster. I'm hoping my little scrambler will be a nice compliment to the beast. Best of both worlds 😁

I have my carbs off and they are in the ultrasonic cleaner now. If any of you are well versed in rebuilding these carbs please chime in. Carbs are still in factory running condition. However they are ask dried up. Have been sitting since '95. My plan was to count turns as I disassemble and reassemble with the same number of turns on all the jets. Any wisdom would be appreciated

There are 10million threads about carbs here https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/forumdisplay.php?131-Carb-Fuel-Exhaust
some here: https://www.thegsresources.com/_for...41-2-Cylinder-(Twin)-Engine-Drivetrain-Clutch
and elswhere...
and,
There is plenty of pdfs and more about rebuilding very very similar carbs here:BikeCliff's Website
get the SHOP manual here:GS450 Official Service Manual PDF
...it is a little "tight" about letting you adjust mixture so1 and a half to 2 is a good place to start for idle mix...but they're usually adjusted when the bike is warm and running with all else "good". It is VERY simple on a twin...similar to a lawnmower.

So I'm trying to find exhaust. I wanted the mac 2:1. Does anyone know where I can find new or used exhaust?

Okay so all the wiring is finished and the motor is cranking now.
Just have to paint the tank, and get fuel flowing. I fired it on a squirt of starting fluid, and she fired right up. Oil and filter are changed. I have a better headlight with a cage ordered.

I'm going to run these mufflers and wrap the factory pipes in titanium colored wrap till I come up with another exhaust I like better. Three mufflers are just hanging there, they will be in a straight line once clamped and the bracket is installed

"Clamor" - a loud uproar, to utter noisily, a loud and persistent noise.

Started the body work on the tank tonight. Almost ready for color and clear
