A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi I'm building a scrambler out of a Gs 550 .thought I would start a build thread here. will be needing help a long the way .don't no much about the Gs models .as I've been more involved with sohc Honda's .just finished a cafe racer build out of a Cb750 .so this will be my second build .here's a couple of pics of bike when I got her .don't laugh too much at her .

Hi thanks for welcome Murdoch.was wondering if anyone could recommend a set of rear shocks for my build .I'm wanting some that are a little longer than standard.for the look in going for I no I can't go too big because of chain .so does anyone no length I would get away with .thanks in advance for any help .

I'm assuming the effects on handling brought on by changes in suspension geometry are of no consequence?

Of cause I'm bothered about the affects .that's why I asked what the max I could go to .another question if anyone can help my Gs as mag wheels on do they have tubes in them .or are they tubeless .if they are tubeless can they run with tubes in them .as I've seen some tyres that only run with tubes

Don't worry about the geometry. The 340mm shocks will slightly steepen the rake and shorten the trail, something a gs550 can handle quite easily. It will have a bit lighter feel to the steering but will be easy to get used to and very likely welcomed. Ground clearance will be gained, lean angle gained, and those are good things.

Some mags are tubed, some are tubeless. You can run a tube in any of them if you so choose. Conversely, I have tube wheels but have converted to run tubeless.

Thanks for info.I will try get some pictures on when I figure it out

Hi I've bought another Gs which is totally stripped the frame as been cut already so I'm going to use that frame instead of cutting a good frame but the one I have bought is a katana will the engine out of mine fit this frame .thanks

Shouldn't be any major issues with that swap - the 8v engines really didn't change much apart from the carbs. You might find a couple of minor issues, but nothing that can't be overcome.

Cool, looking forward to it.

Your pics are tiny, maybe step up the size one notch?

How do I do that

If you want to spend the time, you could upload the pictures to a dedicated image hoster (I myself use http://imgur.com/). After uploading, the hoster will display various codes which you can use to embed your image on various forums, web-pages etc.
For the GSR forums, you need to use "BBCode". Simply copy-paste the code.

I usually choose to embed an around medium sized thumbnail, with the option to click on it to get the full size image.
