    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'm not sure how I've overlooked this but am quite sure I'll be grabbing a copy of it soon! I've heard Hannah Arendt's name but haven't actually looked into her work. Check out this brief rundown on her work, it certainly appears timely!

It could be a pick and choose on the part of those who wrote the presentation, I'm just glad I've come across it. As mentioned I'm going to see if this tidbit of philosophical candy has any flavor metaphorically speaking.
 
PBS had an excellent documentary on Hannah Arendt last summer. I attended a preview showing of it at my local public broadcasting station and it was extremely worthy my time. She was a complicated and brilliant human being, She was Jewish and had to flee Germany for Paris when the Nazis took over. When the Nazis then took over France she was sent to an internment camp from which she escaped and eventually made her way to the US

But her deepest romantic connection through her life was to a married professor she met as a young student and who himself came to support the Nazi party. You can Google her name to get more details of her life and to stream the documentary from all the usual sources. I highly recommend it. The things she wrote will make you think and the eventful life she led will hold your interest while you do.
 
The unfortunate part of being a respected writer is that people can make you out to be infallible, confusing observation and contemplation with creating a new metaphysics. The creator of a novel set of observations is all too often confused with being a diety since many take their work as transcendent as opposed to seeing it as naked logic.

This raises suspicion from those who prefer hold onto the status quo and downright anger from those who see these observations as an attack on their ideology. It's ideology itself that needs to be questioned, not what that ideology stands for.
