I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I've done a search and have found some answers, but I'm still a little unsure about a few things.....

I picked up a late model (93-ish, I think) CBR something or other regulator rectifier last winter with the thought of replacing the faulty one on my 82 Katana. But the 82 is in pieces and now the 84 750 Katana has a failed reg rec (the stator is still ok, though....).

The Honda unit is very beefy with 7 wires. 3 yellow, 2 red and 2 green.
From my search efforts I've concluded that the yellow are the stator connections, the green are the grounds and the red are the positives.

My existing reg rec had 5 wires: 3 yellow, 1 black/white stripe and 1 red.

So, to connect up the Honda I connect the yellow to yellow, one ground to the battery negative and one ground to the frame, and for the reds - 1 red to existing red and the other red to battery positive?

Simple enough, but the reds are what have me concerned. Any clarification would be super duper...

Sounds good, like I forgot to do was to put a fuse inline on the one going to the battery. I guess you could also put one on the one you will connect to the existing red.

Thanks Clone, will add a 15A fuse to the batty connection.

My CBR R/R is hooked up just as you describe. Works well.

I have a r/r similar to what you described. Its off of a f4i. But I have my two reds connected together and ringed onto the positive terminal of the starter solenoid. I have both greens connected together and ringed onto a frame ground. Should I really run one of each color to the battery? I can't see how that would make a difference...

I, like you, tend to do more of my connections away from the battery. As long as you have good connections between your r/r and the battery, you will be fine. There is seldom any problem with the battery line to the starter solenoid, but the ground wire from the battery to the chassis tend to get rather nasty at the chassis end.
