    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

honda wheels!?

ive been trying to find some info to put honda wheels on my 82 1100gl but cant seem to find anything!!! does anyone know it the wheels from a 1983 honda cx650e would fit on my bike with out to much hassel!?
 
I think the easiest way to change with the least potential hassle would be to use the entire front end (wheel, forks, triples, brakes, EVERYTHING), but I have no idea whether the bearings are the right size and/or spacing.

At the rear, change the entire swingarm (wheel, caliper, etc.), but I have no idea if the swingarm pivot area dimensions are even close.

Anything else will require considerable modification or at least attention to ALL the details to make sure it all fits.

What is it about the Honda wheels that is so appealing? :-k

i just love the way they look and there both 18inches front and rear!!
 
If you Google that Honda, they are certainly some '80s-fabulous disco wheels. So I can sort of understand the impulse.

The biggest issue I see is that the Honda and Suzuki shaft drive systems are COMPLETELY different. And on opposite sides. Some pretty serious machine shop work would be needed.

Plus, going from a 16" rear to an 18" would likely create some clearance issues (usually switching a GL to a 17" rear from a G works OK, but 18" might cause problems.) You might also ponder the very poor selection of 18" front tires as opposed to 19".

With enough money, explosives, and access to a complete fabrication and machining shop, anything is possible. But you'd be the first to go down this particular path.
 
If you really want 18" wheels front and back, why not have a shop build you a set of custom wire wheels for your GL?

clearance is not an issue any more, its pretty much all costum now on my bike, and for the tire selection,,,, am having a very hard time finding the tires that i want for the 16 and 19 combo!!
