    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I crashed last night

Man it's been a rough couple of years around here.

We ride,therefore we are... or some mystic thing like that. I crashed a YZ 250 on Christmas eve and broke my collar bone, 3 ribs and punctured a lung a little. The ribs are the worse. Use the meds. That will make things easier. They said they were going to put a little pin in to fix the collar bone... sorry its sideways...

Sorry to hear about the wreck but all that matters is your ok. You'll get the bike fixed or start a new one and sure most on here will help find what you need.
 
Sorry to hear about the accident. No good accident, but better to have one that you survive. Since returning to riding, fortunately the most that has happened to me is dropping a bike at slow speed of coming to an uncertain stop, three times so far, usually on an incline. Get some rest and have a speedy recovery.
 
Damn to bad luck! What is this the 3rd wreck by a GS member in a week?
Hope you heal up fast and your bike is not too badly damaged.
Those increasing tighter turns catch alot of guys off guard, like me.
I was riding with two friends in Alaska, I had the big street bike, Yamaha 650, one friend had a Yamaha 250 enduro, and the other a Yamaha 500 enduro. The friend with the 500 knew these roads, and they're back roads of big gravel rocks, not a road you'd want to be hauling butt on a big street bike, well he lead us (I think he did this intentionally) into this increasing tighter turn at a pretty high speed, luckily I slowed down enough before I entered the turn to make it, but my other friend on the 250 enduro went sailing off the road into the trees, bike was all busted up and he took out alot of small trees, but he came out without a scratch,
I still think about that.
 
Me and my brother are out riding the hills in PA.
I've ridden these roads before, he hasn't, so I'm leading in front. There is an extremely tight turn coming up, and I'm in the 650, which is So nimble, it's practically twitchy.

So I maintain speed and JUST as I'm swinging hard for the turn, I realize.."oh ****, I completely forgot, he doesn't know about this turn!"...and he's on the 750, which has the lean radius of a bus. There's no way he's cruising threw this turn at our current speed.

Luckily, I peer in the mirror, and I see him slam the brakes. And I just follow threw my turn. 10 seconds later, I finally see him come out of the turn, thank God!

yeah merc, this turn was probably similar, it requires you to take it slower, but moreso you need to put your body into it..... there I was in "just cruisin" mode all relaxed. It just got me. Pilot error:(
I really relate and appreciate you all responding/sharing. I would respond to all of you individually, but I am one handing it here:o
I know many of you have taken it way worse than I did....I know I always read crash stories on here and try to learn from them.
I will update things as time goes on.....I will post some pics of the damage when i get the bike back, not really sure how it is. I have a nasty bruise on my arse, pics will NOT be posted!:eek::D

I go see the doc tomorrow to get checked overagain and get my hard cast for my arm. About the same time, the insurance adjuster will be loking over my bike and then having it towed to my house. I have not seen it yet.
In the meantime, I am bored, will be missing some work for sure but I know how to roll with the punches. Things always work out:)
Bored, so here are a few GS's I saw when I went to AMA Vintage days at Mid Ohio. I also saw an 80 Cooley rep that had been raced at some time a long time ago. It was road rashed all over and dented up. Was for sale, but looked like it had sat for many years....cant find that pic.

Sorry to hear about accident. I just pulled a "stupid" with my bike, didn't dump it or anything luckily since I too just got done with a rebuild. But I did end up fracturing my heel. Hope you feel better soon. Looks like we are both waiting for the holiday weekend to be over so we can get casts. Best of luck to you!
 
Just read this thread loud_et. Sorry to hear about everything. Hope the hard cast goes well today.
 
That's tough dude! At least you managed to walk (OK - not very far - but it WAS a walk) away from it. The good thing is that you'll start to heal soon, and each day you'll feel better. Some days a little, and some days a lot! DAMHIK!

Hang in there, and start moving around as much as you can - when you can. Arnica cream works wonders on bruises. Start exercising your fingers/hand on the broken arm (squash ball works well) with a 'squeezee' in another week or so, to stop the muscles atrophying too much - or the joints from seizing up...

It must be a bad boo boo. :(
Be gentle with it for a week at least.
Don't use the cast as a hammer until at least a week has passed. ;)
The Doctor must have thought that you were going to try and ride it soon so he made it difficult to use the clutch.
Matching color of the bike is a nice touch.

Thank God you're alive, and never feel embarrassed about crashing.
Pretty much everybody does, sometime.

The main thing, is that you're gonna be OK and you have a great attitude.
You can always fix or replace a vehicle, but every time I see crash (I recently came across a fatal bike accident) it really hurts me inside!

(Crashes always occur after you restore a bike, seems like.)

Very kind of you Norm.....maybe later I was going to put up some damage photos of the bike..... .of course the beautiful and almost perfect gas tank is dented and scratched. Lol
I will make a full list of the damage and parts needed... .
. , I did get paid by insurance so I would be glad to buy the parts from you. , and I feel very lucky only having gotten a broken arm.
