A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I crashed last night

Wow. Glad you're not banged up any worse!
Best wishes for the recovery of both you and the bike.

crash pics....not so bad

crash pics....not so bad

To my surprize the bike got off very easy....
headlamp-shattered
headlight trim ring- bent/ruined
headlight bucket cracked/busted/mounting ears bent
handlebars finished
left handle control unit cracked
clutch perch cracked
right hand control unit cracked
front brake lever bent
ignition cover scratched/dohc sticker ripped off
tank dented (biggest bummer)
right footpeg rubbers got roughed up a bit
megaphone end got dented and #2 header pipe smashed a bit
Not bad at all....not sure how the specific damage happened, on the moment of impact with he guardrail everything sort of went blank.
Bike starts and idles fine, I could actually get on and ride it. (handlebars are a bit crazy tho):p
The forks/trees seem fine, no visible bends, cracks, paint blistering.
Will be on the hunt for most of the above mentioned parts.

Oh yeah, get all your part needs in the wanted section, not everyone is probably reading this. Good luck on the un-obtainium headlight assy.:-&

They store all the unobtainiun in northern nevada. Way north. Lol

I just got back from a ride with my eldest Son and am busy down-loading pictures and video's.
Just happened upon this thread.

Complete headlight assembly, check.
Handlebar, check.
Tank, check.
Ign. cover, check.
Everything else, check.
Even have another megaphone, check.

:-$

How about that incredibly well stocked salvage yard that Old_Skool visits?

Better add: case guards. I know I insisted on those for all my GS' and other bikes too.
Best of luck!

Went to a junkyard today.....
got a nice nissin 5/8 master cylinder/perch/lever and matching clutch perch/lever(adjustable levers) from an older Ninja and a good tested shindengen R/R(cause one can never have to many):D
have some superbike bars.

gettin there. It about killed me to turn a few wrenches and get those parts, my arm is hurtin, go to doc on thursday for a checkup and to see if he will cut this cast down or not.
Sure would be nice to bend my elbow.
I know I will be able to get back on the bike this fall and get a few miles in before the snow flies:)

Getting my cast off my arm this afternoon. :)
Its been a month and a week since my accident, my time home has mostly been wasted as I had a hard time doing much of anything with my arm all mummied up with epoxied fiberglass.
...dont get me wrong, I went riding a few times in the last week or so, just short bops around town or a smooth country road but only until this last week was I able to really do much that required dexterity.
I am sure I will be off work another week or so. The other night I managed to get the carbs out of new 650, disassemble them and dip. I found the right container to dip two bodies at once so that is a big time saver. Will be reassembling them tonight/tomorrow. ha ha good stuff.

I have some of those same bar end mirrors kicking around somewhere if you need some spare parts... I've had 2 sets over time so should have enough parts around to fix yours.
Just let me know what bits you need & I'll stick them in the post.

:)

Here are the mirrors as mounted sitting on bike.

The left is still complete and functional. On the right one, the main body/bracket part is fine aside from light scratches, only the mirror itself, including the mirror arm and ball on the end (all one unit) is broken. The ball and screw are still in the bracket but broken, and the mirror is still in the ditch somewhere I guess. ha ha

Thanks for lookin out for me, let me know what you come up with.

Fairly sure that same thing happened to one from my first set in a garage tipover... hopefully I kept the other one. Will let you know

:)

I just saw this thread, sorry for your off, It looks like you've got a good handle on it though.

One in the post for you... Your brackets were in as good shape as mine so I just shipped the Mirror I had :)

Sincere thanks Dan. I figured I would say that now in case I dont wake up tomorrow:confused: ...turns out yesterday at the doctor when they removed my cast and did a final x ray, he was not happy how my arm (radius) set so he sent me to see a specialist this morning. And he said......10a.m. surgery TOMORROW:eek:
gotta get a plate in the bone.
not worried a bit, but I will be missing work another month.Sheesh, life happens fast.
I will put the mirror on the coffee table and admire it for a while:rolleyes:
