A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I had a crash...a big one!

I can hardly wait. I hope it hurts. I want to whip the people that make "California Stops" so you can imagine...:)

Lol...I hear ya....there was no "California stop"...on his part....probably doing at least 70km in a 50km zone.

Yeah... He either didn't see it, was staring at his cell phone { my guess }, or didn't care ......

He was from Nanaimo...with his wife...in their 50s...I asked the cops from my bed in emergency "did you give him a sobriety test?"...."No, there was no indication that he'd been drinking". F me...he ran a stop sign, almost killed me, lied about it and it was 7pm on labour day Monday! How much more reason do you need???

That absolutely gobsmacks me. In most European countries now, and for the past several decades, it's been normal for the cops to do a breathalyser test immediately after an accident. Any sign of positivity and it's down the cop shop for a more accurate test.

Good to hear you're getting around again Trevor. Can't believe they didn't test the guy. Hell given the day, and time, I would have tested YOU too, lol. They would have here, without hesitation. Is what it is. Good luck buddy.

Thought I would provide an update.

Two weeks ago I had another surgeon appointment and an x-ray on my hip. Great news, the fracture is healing! No hip replacement....for now.
Doctor was very surprised. To think I was about to go under the knife May 6th...yikes..glad I decided to wait.
I still have issues...lots of "clicking" from the hardware in my hip. The crews will eventually be taken out after the fracture is totally healed.
My finger will likely need another operation as it has gone into full hook mode.
The guy who hit me finally pleaded guilty to "undue care and attention of a motor vehicle and will be sentenced next week when I will get an opportunity to read a victim impact statement.
I had to add up my appointments....just over 300 healthcare appointments since last October. I've worked my azz off and it shows. I'm proud of the way I have responded. Oh and this year so far I have put over 12,000kms on my bikes. :)
I've instructed my lawyer to proceed.

Hey Trevor, thanks for the update. That fact that you have come this far in recovery / rehab is inspirational and a testament to your strong will.

" Undue Care and Attention " ? ..... Man ! Our legal system can be pussies ..... Last I heard that was six points and a fine ..... As far as I'm concerned, blowing a stop sign and nobody hurt is " Undue Care And Attention " ..... Somebody gets hurt and it should be " Dangerous Driving " .....

Good news on the charges but have to agree with Garth on the legal system here being pussies. Great news on your hip and healing in general. It also shows of how attitude and determination helps with the healing process ....really proud of you buddy.

Doesn't BC have an absurdly low limit on damages from an accident? In the US they would be looking for the limit on your insurance, your house, your future income, and your first born. However, in Washington state you are only required to have 25k in coverage.

The guy who hit me will not be held financially responsible. Our Provincial insurance, ICBC will pay me out for "pain and suffering" and any lost wages. And they have paid for all my health care appointments, including mileage, any care aids for my home etc..fwiw our min liability is $200,000 here...I always carry min of 2 million on all my vehicles.
I have no clue what kind of money I will get..but my lawyer said "we are preparing your case to go to court, so we will only settle for court like money"...

Thanks Sandy.

I hear ya Garth...the crown council woman said "I know it doesn't seam fair but that's the system"...I really don't have a problem with it...we all make mistakes...I told her I'm just bitter because he lied...if he had taken ownership from day one and had not made me prove that he ran the sign I know mentally I would have felt better..and maybe wouldn't be so eager to read my impact statement. btw they are seeking a $750 fine...he will be given 6 points on his license. That charge will make his insurance go up big time too.

Thanks Glenn...

Great news on him finally taking some responsibility and hopefully things work out for you
Yes, finally. But I'm sure it's only because I have video...lol...cheers

Good news

Without due care surely
Lol..

Glad you're doing well, Trevor. The driver's consequences seem like a slap on the wrist for nearly killing a person, intentional or not.

Thanks Rich...yes, I agree..slap on the wrist for sure. I am looking forward to telling him what he did to my life though...so there's that...lol

Dude I'm glad you're doing well. I often think of the stories on the gsr when I'm riding. Keeps me alert.

If it were this country, and you had a good lawyer, I think you'd be looking at least at a few million (US) dollars. Pain and suffering, loss of the uses of a farther, husband, income lost, etc.

lol...I wish...:)

In Youngstown, if you paid tribute to a good fellow he'd get the justice he deserves...

And the lawyers fight so hard for you because they get 1/3 right off the top. $10,000,000 award, 6.6 mil to injured party, 3.3 mil to lawyers. And it rarely goes to trial. Insurance company negotiates more than you'd wish for just to avoid going to the trouble, time and risk of a trial.
