Oh man! Sorry to see that, that tank was a 10! Dented mine and cracked my fairing while it was warming up on the sidewalk last spring. I was LLLLLLLIVID to say the least.

long story short, been having issues with rust in the tank that has been plaguing me, derusted the tank on Sunday with some hydrochloric acid and immediately filled it to the brim with fuel to stop flash rust.
Anyway, I also stripped and cleaned the carbs on Sunday to remove the rust that had got through (it was running badly on Friday on the way home from work)
had the tank on top of the trunk of the car connected with a long pipe to the carbs to set and tweak the mixture screws, turne my back for a minute and heard an almighty thump.
Tank slid off the trunk and landed on its side on the concrete garage floor.
It would be a gross understatement to say I am not in a happy place right now.

Other than that I have done 1600km since the rebuild, slowly taking care of the little details, new grips, new mirrors, she sprung an oil leak from one of the half moons, replaced all four and the valve cove gasket with genuine Suzuki parts.
She runs sweetly, starts with a one second punch of the starter button, hot or cold, and pulls strong, like a freight train.
Now that she has done some milage and everything has settled down, I gave her, her head on Wednesday and let her stretch her legs, on the super slab, before I could realise she was running at 200kph, and pulling like a beast.
She is returning on average 39 miles to the gallon, could be a bit better I think.
She does draw compliments and get conversations started wherever I park her, feels good, except when I am in a hurry.

Update time, after many months passing after the accident with Jennifer's tank, due to circumstances and life getting in the way, she is getting the attention she deserves.

The initial damage from the fall

After many days and ady and even more days of ironing out the wrinkles and block sanding, she is finally in her underwear, if I never see another sanding block again it will be too soon, but she is as straight as a die, I am happy. :D

The weather Gods are being kind again today, so with some luck she can slip into her little black number.

Sorry to hear of your mishap. Here's to you for bringing it back yet again.

Great news Stan! Glad to hear you've gotten back to her, can't wait to see that tank all shiny again!

If the weather Gods play nice, you hopefully won't have to wait too long Pete, hoping to dress her in her sexy little black number today :p

Hi Stan, where've you been and how are you keeping? And you started this thread almost 6 years ago 'bout time you got 'er done mate :)

Hey Stan,
I somehow missed your posts when the tank fell on the ground. Really sorry to hear about the huge disappointment, but I know you will get it back to good as new condition again!
Can't wait to see Jennifer running again.

Hi Stan, where've you been and how are you keeping? And you started this thread almost 6 years ago 'bout time you got 'er done mate :)
Woo hoo someone with a longer build time than my 78 1000;)Good to see you back on GSR and working on Jennifer Stan.

Happiness, today I managed to get a lot done and slipped Jennifer's tank into her sexy little black number, looking good.
For those who missed the story of frustration madness and misery, here is the short version.

After spending the better part of four years and a bit rebuilding Jennifer from the frame up, a short 1600km of riding after I finished, the tank fell on the garage floor while off the bike, I was so upset I parked her for months and never touched it.
then life threw a curve ball and I had to uproot and move across contry and Jennifer parked in storage for a few months while I figured out how to transport her down to me.

so this was the damage

First was pulling out the worst of the dents as best I could

Then filler

Plenty block sanding, filling more sanding, filling more sanding.......
Almost ready for primer

In her little sexy black number, well worth the work and prep

It always sucks when your hard work gets dented..argh. But it looks like things are well on their way to recovery. Nicely done Flyboy.
