A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pods are something I havent really wanted. It seems to be alot of trouble to get just right, and I am not sure of the power boost.

Did you oil them ? If you didn't they will be too free flowing.

Pods can be a problem as they are generally not restrictive enough. The Cheap emgo types seem to be the worst as there is really no restriction. To solve this problem, you can add some foam filter to the insides of the pod. What I do is get either a "furnace" filter to cut up. Cut a piece as deep as the interior of the pod and about the same width as the interior diameter. Roll it into a tube and stuff it inside.

If you do go to pods, the K&Ns are really the best with UNis being second. The emgos will work fine with the mod I suggest.

I don't know how well pods really work but they do help the engine sound better at least:D

Good luck with them.

Cheers,
Spyug

i did oil them. probally too much :). there was way to much free flow. tried putting a shop towel inside of one of te pods, and it suked it into the carb. put a shop towel on the outside of it. when it was revved up real high, it crush it in. every time i hit the gas.

You should be able to start and idle good no matter what filter you have. Filter will matter above idle.

Unless you rejet it will not idle or start very easy regardless of what type of pods you installed. RE-JETTING IS A MUST
K&N filters and a K&N jet kit make it easier

Have you ever heard or seen the bike run proper??
Pods require some jet work no matter what.

What filters did you take off the bike? It's not the filters causing your problem. It just needs jetted properly. Yes, individual filters will take longer to get right than an airbox. If your willing to spend the time, you can jet K&N's Uni's or even open velocity stacks correctly.

Here's what I am running on my 77 750. (yes, I know I am sandblasting the engine when I ride)

What exactly did you have to do to run stacks? How much different of a tune is it compared to pods?

I agree with the rejet. I rarely see any bike be able to take pods and run close to good without rejetting the carbs. Actually any time you mess with the intake side of things I'd rejet. Even if you went from one set of pods to the next something is changing. I have a modified intake on my FZ1 and a stock filter. The bike is jetted for that set up. If I put a K&N in place of the stock filter it will run like junk and I'll have to mess with the jetting again.
