All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.
A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.
A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey JoshI'm guessing they're the same. Or very close knockoffs. I just picked up a set of the APE KN knockoffs and they're every bit the same. And $100 cheaper.![]()
ummm,
not to be oiled or washed as per the manufacture![]()
ok grasshoppa:twistedevil:
ride your bike with and without your filters and see if you can tell a seat of the pants difference.
i never oil K&N's but thats me.
you might feel a little more ooooomph with your filters off.
DO IT!! :twistedevil:
What you think i hosed them down with a gallon of oil? You just barely oil them my friend.. Keeps them from being destroyed..that gauze, left untreated will rot. Then you got nothingand BTW I ran the bike with no filters, and with filters...Difference? Probably, but im not trying to shave .00002 seconds off my trap time Terry my friend. Im trying to keep my bike clean AND fast

Ya dont oil em to add life ya oil em to help trap dirt.
I've never oiled mine either, lol..
The K&Ns come pre-oiled (pink) from the factory, and the maintenance instructions cover routine cleaning & oiling. If the APE ones came un-oiled from the factory, and no recommendation/instructions re. oiling, it may be intended to run dry....according to K&N the oil helps filtering efficiency. Bottom line....if you have oiled them and they work for you, that's all that counts!Hrmm, doesnt say that anywhere on the package they send em in. Then again, doesnt say they should be either.
Not sure if the instructions are still the same but when I got mine K&N recommended re-oiling between cleanings. Simply brush off the excess dirt and re-oil. They tend to filter even better with a little dirt on them with no loss of flow. I know Chuck Hahn will disagree, but the K&Ns have a short velocity stack molded into the filter opening. There is a slight flare where the clamped portion meets the screen. It's not much of a flare but it's there unless K&N has changed things. The K&Ns come pre-oiled (pink) from the factory, and the maintenance instructions cover routine cleaning & oiling.
