Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Katman Is Back On Two Wheels

Katman2025

Forum Newbie
 Hey All,

I am happy to be back in good enough health to be back on two wheels again and thank God Almighty I am still here. I couldn't get log in with my original creds so I had to sign up again.

Looks like all my Katana build threads are gone, :frown-new:

To catch y'all up, I have been feeling so good, my wife bought me a new 2025 Hayabusa this year for our 31st anniversary... Great Woman or what? As some already know, she never complained when I would fill the garage up with katanas, 1150s, and 1100e's. She is one in a million.

3 months after breaking in the new ride, I was rear ended by some idiot at a read light. $8k in damage to the bike and 6 weeks of physio I am back on the horse and waiting for parts to restore her to pristine shape.

I am also thinking about uploading my Katana Tech site again. I will see if there is interest enough to help support the site with donations or not. Picking up another KAT is not out of the question at this point.

Cheers,

Katman

So glad you came away from that alive and that you are back on two wheels (and on a monster new bike)! Cheers!

Fantastic to hear you beat the medical issues you were facing! And sorry about getting rear ended! That would suck big time, doubly so on a brand new bike. Keep going...

Healing and back on 2 wheels is great... wife is super great... congrats on both.

Great collection of Kats there.

Intersection rear ends of motorcycles contributed to my state government legalising lane filtering. Not lane splitting. Personally, I feel safer at intersections being able to move between the cars and not have to sit patiently waiting for some driver to hit the rear end.

I love the 'Bussa - a bit scary for me though

Rob, it's great to hear you're healthy again AND great to hear you're back riding.
No surprise it's a muscle bike.

Thanks Steve. The busa reminds of when I bought the new Katana in '82 in regards to how smooth the power comes on and how dead steady it is on the highway. The full electronics control package has spoiled me already.

They catch the guy? Drunk, texting?

He was behind and when the light turned he was looking at his phone in his lap. When he saw the cars moving out of his peripheral he just stomped on the gas, but I had not moved yet. Police would not give me any info about tickets or charges.

The nice thing about BC is mandatory government insurance (no private). A few years back the liberal government decided no one would be able to sue for injury anymore to save the government money. Funny part is with the billions they are saving, my insurance is still almost $2k for my bike, $1,500 for each of my cars. Another benefit is we get to pay full 'pop' for each vehicle we own even though we can only ride or drive one at a time.

LOL, I tried to get a new license plate yesterday because mine is mangled and they wanted to charge me $16 even though I was not at fault.

Sorry, bit of a rant there.

Hey Rob, good to hear your back, you're able to ride again & want to.

I saw a Busa @ Ridge last time I was there. It was a no-chicane day, so I imagine the guy was reaching 175 mph/280kph+ depending on skill at the end of front straight.
My old battered Kat is still road worthy after deer incident.

He was behind and when the light turned he was looking at his phone in his lap.

For some reason, playing with a phone makes me angrier than driving drunk. I used to get right near the driver's door and rev the engine if I saw someone on the phone. I'd like to ram that phone down their throat.

I once tried to alert a cop about a 'distracted' driver, but I couldn't get the cop's attention. He was playing with his phone. True story.

If you have a phone in your hand while you're behind the wheel, it should be immediately confiscated and destroyed in front of you, no judge, no jury. Maybe a few fingers amputated for good measure. Sorry for ranting.
