I would look at the wires going to the ignition switch they move a lot and they can get breaks in them because of that. On my EX500 i had a broken wire that was in the middle of the sub loom where it connected to the main loom all i had to do to find it was disconnect the ignition from the loom and carefully cut off the plastic wrap and i felt along each wire till i felt a part that wasnt as stiff as it should have been i cut open that wire cleaned off some of the sheathing around the break and then soldered the wire together and re-wrapped the sub loom. I havent had a problem since and my symptoms are pretty similar to what you have.

Found it !!!!!!!

Thanks a million for all of the input from those responding to my issue. And a huge "thank you" goes out to Dave (Redman). He is the one who directed me to the orange wire coming back to the fuse block. At the 4 pin connector from the main harness and the fuse block harness, I had current until it tried to go through the connector. No current from the connector side to the fuse block. The orange wire had burned and the connector was melted to the point it could not be pulled apart.

So happy to have found this bugger, now to just make the repairs and start riding it again.

And I was sure it was a loose connection between the seat and handel bars! Good ol' uncle Lar don't have his wires crossed after all... ☺
