All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

im getting started on making my own wire loom, (re building old one)
i did this on my 77 kz650 and turned out great.
ill post a pic (from ms paint) when im done for all you to see and tell me if i forget or wired somthing wrong.

i dont like all these wires on bike and want the bare minimum to ride with
it looks cleaner and easy to fix when a problem does occure

i know i need

head light
tail light
licence plate light (since it will be moved)
break light
rec/reg
battery
tach light (no speedo) i go by sound!
and ignition (electric only) no kick start damn!
and charging system

i may keep oil light and neatural light not sure yet!
ill have a first draft in a aday or so to post for all to see

There have already been a few versions of a "simplified" harness posted, might find them with a search.

Actually, it appears that you are only removing the turn signals and horn. Check with the vehicle regulations in your state, they might frown on not having stuff that was mandatory and originally on the bike when it was built.

By the way, you will probably do better with a brake light instead of a break light. :o

.

opps, i forgot to put that stuff in my sig sorry! i will get right on it.
ill look around and see if i find something that will work for me.
dont know how i missed that! "break light"

I posted a color coded schematic under "550 bobber schematic". Everything ecept lights

Sounds like a good project.:)

I converted a 1000G harness to work on a 1000S. Once you strip the tape off the harness it's really not all that complicated to change things up. Shrink tube and a good pair of crimp pliers (or a soldering iron) are your best friend. Oh, and 3M brand electrical tape - Super 33+ stuff is thin and tough - good stuff.
