I'm replacing all gaskets on the GS and today I pulled the clutch cover off and much to my surprise, I was treated to another PO screw-up. Apparently when another owner decided to replace the clutch springs they snapped the bolt holding the last one in. Instead of fixing it, they just left out the spring due to not being able to remove the broken bolt.
POs, don't you just have to love 'em?
I guess now I will have to remove the rest of them and check the condition of the contents of the clutch basket.
Funny thing is, I tore into this engine to replace the valve stem seals and to check the rings as I was using a lot of oil. It has turned into a near complete restoration process. Just wish I had known then what I know now, I could have just as easily removed the engine and properly done a total restore/refresh.
Just venting here.
