More Braided S/S Brake Line Stuff

A co-worker has an '01 Bandit 1200S that I was looking at yesterday. In my quest for s/s brake lines for my 82 1100E, I have been trying to find a more economical option than Russell's at $150+USD or Katman's DIY option at about $175CDN for parts. I also wanted a two line set-up that Russell does not offer at all for my 1100. Well, I started thinking about this Bandit 1200 in the parking lot. So I took a tape out and measured the forks, then went and measured my GS forks last night. The Bandit forks are about 1/2"-1" longer to the bars than my GS forks. From looking at it, I can't see any reason why a set of lines for a Bandit should not fit my GS. And the Bandit lines list for $116CDN at a local dealer...Perfect.

Has anybody tried this previously, or knows of a reason why it won't work? I am going to try it unless I hear a serious negative because the price is so good that I am willing to risk it and just sell the lines on E-bay if they don't work. So what about it, people, any info on this?

No reason it shouldn't work. All you need is a double banjo bolt at the master cylinder. I ditched the 3 line setup a long time ago.

Good to hear, Billy. The only question I have left is the orientation of the fittings, since the brake hose does not twist well at all. Once I have satisfied myself on that, I will be ordering a set to try out.

The double banjo bolt is a piece of cake, since there are already two of them on my calipers where the second line goes to the anti-dive unit. Since I am blocking the anti-dive out, I will have them as spares anyway.

I had a two line set-up on my GSXR and it was much easier to bleed than the stock 3 line arrangement. I like the simplicity of the two lines, as well.

Don't forget boys......

the 175.00 is for anodized fittings and banjo bolts... the bandit lines are s/s fittings and are a whole lot cheaper and the bandit lines don't come with banjo bolts I don't believe.

Mark is right about the orientation of the fittings. You can't bend the lines. They fit or they don't.
