My GS1000 30'th Anniversary Paint Job

Looks great. Do you have a picture of it with the seat down?

Griffin,
Thanks for the compliment; I didn't lower the seat yesterday because the gas tank was the last item I clear coated on Saturday.

Nice work mate!

KiwiGS,
Thanks cannot wait to take it for a ride again, I am sure I won't see another coming the other way.

You should be proud man. Truly beautiful work.

russ33,
Thank you, since I don't have a GS1000S like yours so I figured I would take a chance and paint it a little different. The blue looks lighter outside than the garage photos. I will post a picture with the seat down shortly.

Per your request . . .

Per your request . . .

Clean lines , great choice in colors, superior detailing, super job!
I to would like to see a full pic with the seat down.

Willie, reddirtrider, DMorris, MelodicMetalGod, Flordia Guy & drtytim Thank you all for the positive compliments, it makes it worth the time & effort. Not sure what I did to the retail value of my GS1000 but . . oh well. Time will tell

IMHO, you raised the value a bit; that bike looks seriously hot. Judging by the fan you have blowing on it in the driveway, you obviously know that!:D
Here's the thing though....who even cares about the potential value to Tom, Dick & Harry....you have built/modded the bike for you to enjoy riding & looking at....I doubt you would part with it for even 5-6 large? Mine has nowhere near that amount of work/effort in it, but I know I'd have no problem turning down an offer of even twice that....simply not for sale.:-s
Tony.

Mysuzyq is right. The monetary value is not the issue. That bike will get more looks in 1 block than any Tupperware sportbike will get in it's entire lifetime. Beautiful work, you should be proud.

It really does look great, Steve. The gold wheels are a real nice touch. Lots of really nice components, too. It's always nice to think the time and effort will also pay back in higher value. Who knows. It can't help but be worth more, but it's the sence of the accomplishment that holds the value, eh?

Looking good bud. Very, very nice!

Thanks reddirtrider, . . . I had this momentary wild idea of swing down by Westcliffe, CO. to see if you could help me hold parts during the paint buffing process. Than I Mapqwested Westcliffe and I was reminded again how spread out Colorado really is! On another note, perhaps we can do a Fall group ride with those other proverbial GSer's tinkerers Tkent02 & GSghost1. They have got a couple of GS1000's too

Josh,
To be honest your best bet would be to hire nvr2old. I was using a crappy compressor and that caused all kinda of problems. I am a newbie but I can safely say 2 tone painting takes longer than most people would think. BTW, which one are you painting, 1100ES?

Tony,
You are right, I probably will never sell that GS ever and if I could wheel it in the house during the winter months I would. BTW I bought that Walmart fan for this project and was such a POS the pic shows it's final resting place!

Cool, Hopefully it won't get to much attention on those Sunday morning rides ;)

Larry,
I painted those wheels with VHT SP-182 Gold when I first saw the Suzuki GS550ES /16" front wheel. That paint held up well considering 40K later. I repainted the rear last year and found the stuff has been discontuined. I had no idea the Aussie GS1000S had gold wheels till I ran across this site. I believe I have to debling a couple of items: lose the yellow spark wires for Black or Blue wires (Anyone want to trade for like new Accell 8.8's ?). Use hampshirehog suggestion on the bar end weights and perhaps black oil cooler lines

Steve, your bike looks awesome!! VERY nice job!

I like the blue oil cooler lines, and I like how you routed them. But I agree, you should go with black or grey plug wires and black caps.

That looks awesome, the colour scheme works well.
Im about to start painting mine shortly, could you please send me a copy of the decal measurements.

I'm trying to get the ZRX1200 up and running again - it has some carb problems. After that a ride sounds great. I don't have any GS's anymore, just some dirt bikes and the Kawasaki, so you'll have to put up with the green machine.

Yea, we've got a big state. The final 15 miles to my place is some really sweet canyon roads, so if you ever want to come down let me know. I have plenty of room to stay and this is a perfect jumping off place for some of the best road trips in Colorado.

Oh, and if you want to ride trails, I have a buddy bike. 2 really, but 1 needs about a days woirth of work right now.
