A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

The views expressed in this forum are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of "The GSResources" or the editors.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

hello everybody,
the reason i am making this post is to find out what tires everybody likes and uses. if i can get some info back from the forum members i can get some tires deals together to try and save some of you money on tire costs. your info would be a great help.

thanks
chris

forgot to add i can get almost any tire on the market.

I like Roadriders, some here like Pirelli Sport Demons...
Time for another set soon too.

Plus 1 on Avons. Pirelli is very popular among the corner carvers here as well!

No mention yet of Chen Shin Hi-Max? I've seen them recommended here more often than anything else for those on a tight budget.

I have Avons on my two... AM26 Roadriders. Got them for my friend too & am about to buy another set for a 550 I'm working on.

Good tyres.

Dan :)

Avon RoadRiders here as well.

I mount my own tires, and just spooned on a fresh set of Avons a couple of weeks ago. This is my third set of these, so obviously I'm very happy with them. I get around 6,200 - 6,400 miles on a rear and 12,000+ on a front. These are the only tires I've been able to go 2 rears to 1 front safely. (YMMV -- I'm harder on tires than most riders, so most people get more miles.)

I paid $163 and change delivered from http://www.americanmototire.com for the following sizes:
100/90-19
130/90-17

Also, in case it matters, I use Avon's excellent new Storm radials on my VX800 (110/80-18 & 150/70-17). The Brits sure do make some mighty fine tires.

Metzelers always. Switched in 1987 to Me33s and rear ME99s, switched a few years ago to an ME88 Marathon rear. Always solid, no ugly little slippy surprises, and the ME88 seems to have a few extra miles in it as well.

Count me in on the Metzeler's. I've got Avon's on mine right now but I'm switching back to ME's when these wear out.

As mentioned previously, for those on a budget, Cheng Shin Hi Max.
