A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Got it from New Enough for $41.00. It is the MG-950 magnetic model. Seems to be well built. No loose threads or hard to work zippers.Holds it's shape really well empty and stays where you put it. Made in USA too.

Same as Mine, Still Holding up well after a Year although Sun Faded because I Neglect to put the Cover on it. I like Mine Very Much and Would Buy Again.

Hey, I just got one of those from New Enough too! The FedEx truck dropped it off on Friday.

Very nice little bag -- most others are twice the price. I have a much larger strap mounted Tour Master tank bag, but it always spreads out like a big blob and interferes with the bars.

I needed something a little more narrow with a map pocket that mounted magnetically. This one has much better stiffeners in it so it should keep its shape loaded. The magnets are freakishly strong -- I don't know how you could lose this thing accidentally once it's stuck to the tank. And if you end up with too many souvenirs, it expands a couple of inches. It even comes with a rain cover.

Don't put your wallet to close to the bottom, I use a winter hat to space it off the bottom.

I won't...but it does have a couple of pockets up top (and a cell phone holder) if I ever did.

And yes, the magnets are pretty stout. It's like six little hammers hitting it all at once if you're not careful.

8Track,

You may want to do something to protect that beautiful paint job. I don't think there has been a tank bag made that doesn't cause some scuffing of the paint. I use clear contact paper to protect the paint.

Thanks,
Joe

Thanks for the advice, Joe. :-D
3m used to make a paint protecting adhesive film. I have a discontinued roll up here at work I can use.
Also, the clear on the 550 was stacked, so I have plenty to buff if it gets out of hand.

BTW, wait 'till you see the paint job on the new 1000.

Can't wait, I know this is going to the right home :D

I use a strip of the Grip-It rubber mesh. It works even better with a non-magnetic bag; it keeps it from any sliding around.

Thanks for the tip. I may try that as well. :-D

I'm ordering one of these ASAP...I've grown to hate riding with a backpack and strapping it down to the back of the bike.

Guess I'm growing up. ;)

It happens...:(

Btw, I bought the matching tail bag at the same time to get me up to BC. Needless to say, I didn't get to use it. If you want it instead of a tank bag, PM me.
It's quite a bit bigger than the tank bag so you can put say...extra meat in it.:-D

 Joe

I picked up the same bag on ebay recently. Very good quality and IMO the perfect size. I can cram a textbook or two and a big notebook in it, so I can ride to class with no backpack, IF i can ever get this devil machine back together.

Based upon the comments of all you folks, I decided to get the Nelson Rigg brand tank bag. I purchased the larger sized CL350 magnetic bag and I am pleased with the quality of the bag for the price of around $56. Once again the GSR folks come through for me. Thanks once again, Ray

After taking it to work today, one of the Harley guys bought a CL300. Of course he is very easily impressed.

I can't live without mine now.
I'm thinking of putting the strap on it and and wearing it shopping.
"Hey, waddayou lookin' at? It's a tank bag!"

man Purse!

Although the overall build MAY not be as good as the Nelson Rigg, my EXL (sold new on Ebay by "Moto-direct") was less than twenty bucks more and has three different compartments that can all be used on their own, with numerous combinations possible.

Nerobro also has a version of my bag and we're both VERY happy with them.

Regards,

I've bought a couple items from them before. They shipped really fast and had good prices too...
