A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi. Just saying hello. I recently purchased a 1977 GS 750. Hasn?t been used much in a couple years. It runs pretty good and the charging system seems good as per all the great info on this forum and the gsresource site!!

Got forks seals, air and oil filters on the way. It was painted reddish by someone in the past. They also tried painting the engine black. It?s flaking off easy though. I plan to restore to original as best I can. I?m going to pretend the original colour was blue because I absolutely love the 77 blue!! Lol.

I got a 80 xs 650 running and in good working order about a year ago. Sold it after I did everything I wanted to. Now I?m keen on restoring this GS. I?m already very impressed by the vast amounts of info on this forum!! I hope I can shed my lurking status ASAP and help others as I learn about these awesome bikes!!

Welcome to the site, Guss.
If you have been lurking you know pics are required even if it ain't pretty.
Easier to show off your restoration progress.

Welcome! Great bike there. Expect you'll have a lot of fun with that.

Thanks. Apologies for the tiny pics. Posting from my phone. Steep learning curve already. Lol

Welcome & congrats on your new project. Huge step up from a Yamaha XS 650 to a Suzuki GS 750. It's kind'f like jumping from a Ford Pinto into a Chevy Camaro SS. Should be great project. Good luck.

Thanks!! I learned a lot from the xs.. looking forward to working on my GS. First job is the fork seals when they show up!!

UNI do replacement filters that fit on the original cage - work great. You will probably need to run some door seal foam around the top of the cage & also on the airbox door etc. :)

Welcome to the forum :)

thanks for the info!!! Some pics for fun! having issues posting. "too much info" error.. LOL...

some pictures...

some pictures...

2 empty plugs, new K&N filter, dirty carbs... etc... :)

Thanks for the UNI advice!! I had already found a K&n filter on amazon. $70. It fits into the original case. No foam though. I was on the UNI site just now, there?s definitely a lot of foam sheet options. Do you think this k&n will work as well?
thx.

The best way to post pics is to set up a free account on a site like Flickr or Imgur, and load up your pics there. I've written a tutorial for Imgur- linked in my signature.

And I had a chance to pull plugs last night. I think this is called carbon fouling. Too rich.. my air filter was basically falling to pieces, so hopefully this new one will help. Got carb o rings and gaskets and brake pads on order. Hurry up and wait eh?!? Back brake is dragging. I bled them with fresh fluid and took them out, sanded lightly. Still draggy. Front hoses look new ish to me and fluid was clean. Back hoses look old and fluid was filthy.

Hi,Guss. another pic-tip (at least it works for me): If you click on the picture inside your post (before you post it or as an "edit") there's an option to resize it....800x600 or 1024x740 are both good choices if the picture uploaded supports it...ie: is not itself a tiny picture

Larger, as in "full size" might overcome some peoples' screen size and scrolling sideways or adjusting zoom of the browser puts me in bad temper :)

Thanks for the tip!! Test pic... original size was 2.4megs, chose large option for kicks and it shrunk it down to 400k. This is a pic of two mystery plugs hanging under my tank. Lol.

hmm. Maybe it doesn't work for every one.Maybe your browser isn't supporting certain options? I double-click the picture before posting
...or maybe I'm the only guy that can see this picture as bigger!
