Some of you may remember me mentioning my friend Nancy....she is the one that rides a Hayabusa and drives corvettes...you have likely seen pics of her and her vehicles in my Friday Afternoon Safety Meeting posts....
Anyway I got to know her 13 years ago when she had a 1982 katana 1100 for sale with only 7500kms on it....I had now way of affording it but I had heard about her as she was kind of a local legend and pretended to be interested to meet her...lol but from that meeting we became good friends and would ride together often. She's a cool lady....she is 73 now and started riding when she was a kid in Victoria....her first street bike was a 1976 GS750E and she put a Rickman fairing on it....she has had a lot of brand new bikes since...1982 Katana, 1985 GSXR750....etc....and when I first met her she had two Hayabusa's....2008 and a 1st gen 2000
We even dirt biked together.
She has not been riding the busa much as her physical health has not been the best and she is a small lady to begin with...so a couple of years ago she told me she was giving the Busa to me in her Will.........
Well yesterday she decided to surprise me for my upcoming 60th birthday and she had a friend of ours bring the bike over to me

She said "I can't ride it anymore and it's a shame to see it just sit in her garage and I'm giving it to you anyway, so I want to do it now so you will ride it". She also said "you are the perfect guy to take care of my baby, you being a Suzuki guy, I think this bike should be in your garage now".

It was pretty emotional with tears shed.....
She bought the bike new in 2000 and has modified it over the years...the Corbin seat she had custom made at the factory in California when she rode the bike there.
She also added Carbon Fibre Rims!....jesus are they ever expensive...lol
I was with her several years ago when she had it dynoed

I used to love riding with her because it was so funny watching the reactions of other bikers when she took her helmet off riding the busa....

A very Happy Birthday Trevor. A perfect bike for a young fella like you.

I’m looking to low size down from my 919, just getting too much to ground handle, like Susie Q. We be getting old n weak.

Happy birthday trevor... That bike is a huge gift, but probably not near as big as knowing that lady thinks that much of you... Congrats on both.

Very cool Lady, story, and background. And very cool bike. Congrats Trevor!

Happy Birthday, Trevor. Was this just one of the perks of living in a place that requires vintage bike ownership for residency? :)

I'll say. One of those rim$ costs more than I paid for any of the bikes I currently own.

Congratulations on the bike but even moreso on the good fortune of fellow traveling with such an interesting person as Nancy.

Nancy is quite a woman! She put 55k km on that bike, which is some serious seat time! Wow!

How is the riding position? Are the bars in a reasonable position for a man over 60? Bar risers needed?

Lol...thanks Don...I think she said she paid $4500us used for them...
The best thing is this bike is over 25 years old so I can apply for collector plates with a 75% discount :)
She's a special lady....I have not told any of my buddies yet so today's Friday Afternoon Safety meeting is going to be interesting :)

She rode it for sure...the corbin seat was custom made while she was in California on it....the riding position is not great for me...lol...and yes I can put bars on it but I'm afraid she will not respect me if I do that...:p

Got the Busa out for my first ride on it today (I have rode if a few times while in Nancy's ownership)
I applied for Collectors Plates.....bike has to be at least 25 years old, in nice original condition....it was approved and I know everyone at the insurance office so well they let me go through the box of collector plates to let me choose :)
