    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi All,

Just found this forum yesterday and there is a wealth of knowledge here!
I live in North East England and have returned to motorbikes after a 40 year gap!
Saw my 1981 Suzuki GS550E on Ebay and had to have it. There is a GSX 750 at my work, in a container, that I tested out for height as I am short in the leg department!
I have ordered some JIS screwdrivers to compliment my toolkit.
The bike has been well looked after and had a major engine build 1000 miles ago. Currently not running due to an electrical issue which I need to sort out.
Just wondering what years had the colour coded side panels? My bike is red and has black side panels.

Welcome browser, nice looking bike. Carbs say "80" or newer, bike looks pre "80", so I ain't sure. Is the metal tag still on the steering stem, if so, it should have a mfg. date.

Will have a look. I can see a frame number but nothing else.
 
80+ Carbs on it too although I agree the brakes like Pre-80. You never quite know what they did exactly in different territories! Welcome to the madhouse :D

You never know what a PO did, either.
Wasn't uncommon for a bike with a front end crash to sport an earlier set of forks and wheel, etc.
 
Welcome to the site! That's a proper looking motorcycle. No crash bars, highway bars, no luggage rack, no saddle bags or trunk, no windshield or fairing, no backrest or sissy bar...I could go on and on, but you get my drift. That's a proper looking motorcycle.

As for the exhaust, I have come to love the look, sound, performance and weight saving of 4-into-1s. Pods are also okay in my book.
