A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

This is a multi-culture motorcycle site with folks from all over the world. What's good for the goose in one part could mean a cooked one in another.

There are other motorcycle site's that can keep you entertain for hours, I should know cause I do ride a Harley too.

So lets get back to Performance Mods. Like the song says, I want to talk about me, I want to talk about I, I want to talk about #1 GS guy's.

And if that doesn't work then the only thing left is dualing water pistals

I got foil on my head and the flame suit is on.

jake, let this one go......It is between the two of them now....

I haven't read any of the threads that led to this, nor do I care to. Katman rarely posts anywhere but the Performance section. He has gone to great pains to document for the forum his work on his machine to help those contemplating modding their bike. His request is simple enough to comply with.

It's arguments like this that have led me to spend very little time at GSR these days. This isn't the place to be challenging the intellect of others. I haven't even bothered to check out the "other" forum, I have absolutely no interest in it. I used to love participating in the forum, now I can pretty much live without it.

BTW, the quantity of one's posts has little to do with their quality.

I say again! It has solved almost every "spirited conversation" I've ever been in. You guys need the Bubblewrap! Just pop the bubbles and feel the stress going away.

Well put, Billy Ricks! I agree with you, Katman, FWIW. I don't find that girly pictures add much value to technical Q&A.

First of all, I don't have 10 friends. Second, how do you get that head into a helmet?

my specific objective being to obtain your apology to everyone on this Forum, and, without any further reservation, to have you withdraw any and every objection of any kind that you have posted to date, either on the Forum or to any and every Member and/or moderator of this Forum.
IT ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN.........YOU HEAR ME......NEVER...

I WON'T DO IT.......

SPOOOOCK!!!!!!!...BONES!!!!!!!!! SCOTTY BEAM ME OUT OF HERE.

I will NOT be making any more posts or responses to this thread.

Katman, I respect (and respected) your concerns as far as the avitar was concerned. Granted I rarely come to the Perf. Mods Forum, so I would have been following your request. My only concern is that you did not make your concerns known to the rest of this sites members. I think the ill will towards you is not so much your dislike of said avitars. But the method in which you chose to take action. If you didn't like what you were seeing, you should have stated it outright. I have no problem respecting another person's wishes, as I'm sure many others here don't either. I think a lot of this would have been avoided had you just been open and honest. My.02

I hate election years. It seems like everyone wants to argue about everything and nothing.

I agree with Katman. I have had to hide the screen from my four year old because of the avatars that have come up lately. She will sit in my lap when I'm surfing the innerweb and she looks at all the neat pictures. I am not interested in sheltering her from the world, however, she is my little girl and I don't want her to think that girls should dress this way.

I want my little girl to stay innocent as long as possible.

Would you want your daughter to dress this way? Do you want your son to date a girl that does?

All of this bitching over an avatar is rediculous. This IS a family oriented forum, not because it was written down by Frank and Dan, but because we made it so. The people that frequent this place are drawn by a mutual love of the GS. What they found here was a "family" made up of people who span the globe. We get along like a big family. We joke, we fight, we help each other, and we usually respect each other.

Just because your life isn't affected by these images doesn't mean someone else's isn't.

I would appreciate seeing more actual photos of the people posting. If your avatar is supposed to say something about you then what is your avatar saying? Mine is an actual picture of myself driving a Gator up some stairs, wheels up. I thought it was pretty cool so I made it my avatar. Katman has a wicked katana. What does a scantily clad cartoon girl say about you?

It's late, I'm going to bed. G'night everybody. I hope this crap goes away soon so we can talk bikes again.....

Katman I made the graphics, it's a pity you didn't see fit to approach me regarding this.

If you had read the threads in off topic you would have been aware of the reasons I made the graphics to start with.

Don't take out on other members something which is solely my responsibility,

If you wish to call into question my morals then attack me not others

I walk the fine line of nuetrality on this issue. I do marvel at the idea of this much bandwidth being dedicated to this "debate". I also percieve that this is a matter best left to more seasoned members than I to discuss. Queenie, allow me to lean across that line to point out a flaw in your post. The idea of the avatars in question being solely your responsibility is a little off base. Unless you have access to the member's profiles and changed them, it seems people made a choice and took action to change their avatars. If you gave me a t-shirt that featured an image that I KNEW would be objectionable in public, and I chose to wear it out anyway, then the responsibility is mine, not yours (I wear size 3XL, BTW :D ). I also recognize your post to be an effort to draw flame away from the members who chose to use your images, and I admire that.

Klacko this isn't about trying to take the heat off other members, this is about my opinion on this matter, I made the avitars in an effort to lift the mood of the forum after recent events, the originals were in fact cartoons with the one exception, it was this exception that had other members ask for something similiar. I chose to make the avitars, had I refused the requests then this whole situation would not have evolved.

At no point was there any intention to offend anyone.

Strange.... since you started this thread in the first place.
You don't like the responses and just walk away?

BTW: this thread should be in the Off Topic section.

PM already sent to Katman.

The following is a part of it, because I think Jojo will enjoy it:

Avatars appear wherever a member makes a post, regardless of the subject area and/or thread, thus an avatar that appears beside a member?s post in the Performance section simultaneously appears beside every post that member currently has on the Forum.

What one sees in an avatar, or any other depiction, is what one selectively CHOOSES to see. Similarly, what one sees in print, or hears aurally, can be selectively interpreted as being offensive. The simplest truth is that, if one should CHOOSE to find something offensive in any sort of material, sound or action, it will be ?found?.

Jojo?s winking avatar, for example, is as open to interpretation as any other, including the one which has been declaimed. One may see it as suggestive of a lewd and lascivious moment of sexual dalliance, that salacious wink carefully crafted to appear innocent but mockingly intended to awaken and inflame hidden, or forbidden, desires and passions on the part of susceptible viewers.

Or, one could accept it as a well-made and artistic endeavour and appreciate it for those reasons.

Completely agree, too much time and bad emotions drawn out, definitely not worth the efforts of all the good folks on this forum.

I would suggest we go back to some proven forum building activities, say chain vs. shaft discussions

Shaft discussion may be interpreted as either motorcycle part or other anatomical part?
