Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.

All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pic of the week game

A high totem pole complete with an eagle sitting on top. There are a lot of eagles in the heart of the city. A few years ago one scooped a steak off of the plate beside my barbecue on the balcony........

One of my favorite mountain vistas in this area. Probably the best I'll get this week.

Higher power? Blessing of the GS from on high?

I know I've said it here before, but I know for a fact that Jesus would ride a 1981 Suzuki GS 1000 GL.

"Why's that?" you ask.

"I'll tell you," I say.

Suzuki GS code for 1981 is the letter X. X is the first letter of the Greek word Christ.
GS obviously means "God's Son"
1000 is ten times ten times ten... a trinity of a perfect number.
And GL of course means "God's Love."

Irrefutable and indisputable. :D

So, then... ah.... are you saying that a GS is the modern day equivalent of a donkey.....?

But if he's in a hurry..... God Speed and a big bore.:)

This week's theme is "High Places/Things".
I pondered what to do for this week. I live near some nice hills but none of them afford the vantage point I imagine in my head. I wanted to park my bike at the top of a nice steep precipice and get a picture from a hundred feet down, but I just couldn't see how to make that happen.

Then I thought about the New River Gorge Bridge, which is a two hour ride from my house and which is over 3,000 feet in length as it crosses the New River, 876 feet below. That is a high place, but how to take a picture, especially when you're not allowed to stop on the bridge. And it'd be an all-day trip to get the pic.

I thought about a neighborhood near me called Highlawn, and I got a picture in front of the Presbyterian Church and the Methodist Church too.

But my wife picked this pic out. There's a local road that crosses Interstate 64 just past west of exit 15, about fifty feet high. I was able to park on this bridge and snap a pic. The googlemap streetview is for perspective, with an orange star from about where I was.

.... and step out into traffic.
That I recognize.

.... lean bike up against the wall...?

Wow! Another great group of pictures. Love this game...

dorkburger, gets my vote after much deliberation.

Nice work, Glenn. That is a stunning picture.

The stained glass, enough of the bike to know what it is, and nothing else to distract. Beautiful.
