• This forum allows conversation on non-controversial topics, therefore no politics or religion. "The Campfire" is an area meant for casual, civil discussions. Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.

The words insight and incite are pronounced the same. But one of them will get you banned and the other will not. Before hitting the Submit button be certain which of the two better describes your post.

    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pic of the week game

Use your imagination Baatfam. Deterioration need not be limited to that found on a bike.
Dilapidated buildings, rundown businesses, crumbling roads, old vehicles, boats, junkyards, etc. in the fore or background?
No doubt neglected, abandoned and discarded elements are in everyones area.

My selfie?

In Cowboys defense, that Ohio Rt.555 is a very dangerous road. It's narrow, rough, poorly marked with a lot of blind turns and hills. A lot of crashed motorcycles on that road. There are a lot better roads just a little farther east.

Time and/or wear and tear were not friends of the Doohickey on the KLR 650. The bike had a short life span without taking care of this balancer tensioner issue. If the spring didn't snap, the part the spring was connected to would. It didn't seem to be a matter of if, but when enough wear and tear would cause this part to fail.

Here's my 2005 KLR with a broken tensioner spring.

Oddly enough, I learned more about this bike than I ever thought possible from the guys on a vintage Suzuki forum. GSR GUYS ARE AWESOME!

Last year, Daytona... My Wiring Harness deteriorated right before my eyes... (Or went up in smoke with some pronounced crackles and pops!)

Stupid Harley...

Pondering the theme-category as stated by Sandy:

...............Anyway it's deterioration or something equally as ugly. .........

........................ it should have say or. So the theme is basically deterioration or how time and wear and tear has not been a friend to your motorcycle. ..............

So, I am trying to think what nice, somewhat artistic, picture I might have. Am thinking such a picture I might have would be fairly documentary , just trying to show the wear-deterioration-failure-whatever, without too much concern for being an interesting picture.
But, hey, that is part of the fun of it.

I couldn't get the oil cap off, so I tried channel lock pliers. This happened.
I eventually removed the engine cover and took it to a shop where they waved a torch over it and were finally able to remove it.

Was thinking of “wear and deterioration”..... .

Well, I Have these two rear wheel hubs, one from 850g I had, one from GK.

Failing to produce anything artistic, I then went for somewhat silly way to show the wear.
(the wear that most of us here will recognize without explanation)

Anyone who knows me well knows I'm a sucker for old barns and buildings. Bob's pic contrasting the old shack and his pristine Triumph does it for me this week!
