If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Topic: Missed companions.
As the fall is slowly giving into winter and fewer and fewer motorcycles are found on the road I find this time most difficult as I remember my good buddy Jack. He and I would be riding strong together into November, now I do it alone. Still I go to my phone to shoot Jack a text to see if he wants to do a 30' ride into work with me... Anyway I don't want to go all morbid so this can include just missed companions that are no longer around to ride with or maybe its the group you love to explore with from one of the great GSR meets we have and wish you could ride with those companions every weekend...
So with that here is Jack's +100K miles V-strom and what he called my "British Harley". On one of many random pickup rides we would do together.

Just broke 40' and the rain stopped. Off to go grab my daily hundred!
Have a fantastic weekend folks!
Best,

Dave Davis special by Scott Marvin, on Flickr

Never a doubt on this subject, just had to find a pic of one of the late Dave Davis's (painterdave) bikes. This one he rode from Northern Illinois to Indiana and back banging like a jack hammer. Once he tore into it, one or more of the cam retainer bolts had backed out. How he got there and back is lost to history but it was not the first "mechanically questionable" bike Dave had ridden a long way to meet his GSR Brethren......:)

BC 2013

Bruce Bomber747 and two others from Northern Minnesota (10 hour ride to southern Indiania), Adam LoudET and me.
That morning at breakfast I had told Brian that I was gonna ride out on my own, and then a little bit later these three guys approach me and said Brian says I could lead a group, the slow group I think they said. I explained that I really wasnt a group leader, but they could follow me if they wanted to make it to the Ohio RIver, and that I might stop a few times if I saw something interesting. And then Adam joined us.
We had a great time. THey didnt mind stopping when I did, and a couple times one of them would pull up to me at a stop sign or something and ask if we could go back to someplace they saw. If I had any problem with these guys following me was that if/when stopped it was hard to get them going again since they were running around taking pictures of the scenery and each other.

On the occasion of this picture, We were going down BecksMill Rd, I saw a cemetery on left side close to the road. and a place on right that had a circular driveway, so I pulled in the driveway and went in and around an stopped out by the road, the other guys followed me around and also stopped along the road. I ran across street, set up camera on a headstone and set up the delay shutter and ran back across the street. I have liked this pic although crooked from the slope of the road.
With a little more organization, could have had bikes more evenly spaced and such. But there was very little organization/direction other than me jumping off my bike, pointing here-here-here-here and running across road to set up the camera.
At every stop the three guys were exclaiming at how much fun they were haveing, like they had never done anything like this before.
Adam was back a few more years.

Oh, that was my first experience leading a group at a rally. And have not increased nor improved any organization/planning for leading a group on the other years since.

I have greatly enjoyed other groups have rode with at BC over the years, many on repeat occasions, but I like this picture.

To my knowledge these guys are all still living, older but wiser.
Rusty and me and Barry used to ride together when I lived in PA. I moved from that city in 2011.

Finding this old T500 cheap and in good shape was like winning the lottery. Fixed it up a little, rode it a bit and sold it to someone who could take better care of it than I would. Probably a once in a lifetime thing for me.

I really miss this classic.

There are now two people that are missed when I look at this pic - not seen is my father. This was the first ride in his memory that we took about a year after he passed in 2002. On the left is my uncle - dad's brother. About 10 years after this was taken he lost his life due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He put about 80k miles on that Triumph Legend in the pic before a careless, dangerous, driver on the revoked list did him in.

Pic is not crooked, the ground was at this spot.

Came up empty this week. My dad (rest his soul) was the family photog, but I’ve found no photos of me and bikes with the guy who taught me so much, including how to ride and wrench on my first motorcycle when I was 12, a 1972 Yamaha DT 250. But I’ll never forget our rides together. Also rode ATV and dirt bikes with lots of friends in my teens. Sadly, no pictures. Just great memories. Today, I’m a lone wolf. I’ve never ridden in a group or with another person on the street outside of the MSF course.

Happy Friday Morning GSR! Time to vote....

First our theme from Jedz123 (Justin)

Topic: Missed companions.

And that is it...Don't forget to vote!

Only 10 entries this week, so they all fit on one page.

If we missed anything or anyone, please let us know.

I have to go with Eli69. Just a wonderful photo, even with the ugly date code...

(There are ways to get ride of that, Eli...LOL....)

I'm going to vote for Gustovh, well just because. Refresh my memory Gustovh. Is the gentleman in the picture your brother? And didn't he ride to Alaska in the winter or something like that? I'm sure you think of him often. 👍
