Thanks for the summation, Bob. This week flew by and I didn't get a pic to post. Was going to go out and look for a farmyard with a line of chickens. Just never happened.

Anyhow. Voting for Roger Burque73. Lots of good rubber left on that one.

Per Google. "Chicken strips" refer to the unused, un-worn rubber on the outer edges of a motorcycle tire, indicating how much the bike has been leaned in turns. While sometimes mockingly used to imply a lack of rider skill or fear of leaning, they are commonly found on street-ridden bikes and do not affect performance or mean a rider is

Yah, I s’pose is some variation to the term chicken strips. In addition to the side edge of the tread, there is the little spike things that got my attention.

Ooof, didn't think that pic would win. I just thought it was more interesting than the pic I initially posted which was of a recently mounted tire but looking through the wheel, in the background was a place that serves chicken strips.

Here's the scene from a different angle.



I in the pic I entered, you can see my rear wheel and Vetter side case. Technically, my bike is in the pic, so I figured what the heck. Again, it seemed more interesting.

That delaminated Shinko was on a buddy's KZ1300. He rode from El Paso, TX. to meet up with me in Socorro, NM. which was the first leg of a weekend motocamping trip. About 40 miles from Socorro, the tire flew apart, scaring the crap out of him, he said. It never went flat so he rode the rest of the way on it. What impressed me was that while he was riding, using voice commands through his Sena, he called all of the shops in the area looking for a tire. The closest one was in Albuquerque, where I had just left an hour ago....but, my wife was still there. Rather going to pick up the tire on my 850, I asked my wife, who was two miles from Cycle Gear in Burque, to grab it and meet us at the tire shop in Socorro. I figured she could grab the tire and travel the 80 miles bringing it it to us nearly at the same time he arrived. Providing that delaminated Shinko didn't completely give up, that is.

He made it to the tire shop, took the wheel off, and we waited for her. And waited......And waited... for hours! I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but I could have ridden the 80 miles to town, grabbed the tire, and made it back (with still enough time to mount the new tire) in less time it took her to get to Socorro. Still, we thanked her for the help, mounted the tire, and everybody hit the road. The rest of the ride was rather tainted because that ghetto tire shop in Socorro sprayed PB blaster on the tire to set the bead. It didn't hurt anything, apparently, but we never woul have done that.

OK, I'll quit yacking and get out for a new pic. It's getting hot outside. We've had record high temps and they're going to continue all week. Hey, that gives me an idea for a new theme. Hmmmm? I'll be back shortly.

Well yeah, I thought the chicken strip was the little "line" that showed the edge of the wear caused by the farthest lean, near the edge of the tread...Not that it matters, but in Very few Few of the pictures did I see that line... But good pictures of tires anyway.

Agreed Bob, yours and a couple others I could pick out the chicken strips that's why used aren't even visible in "most" of these pictures... That's why I kind'f got to wondering if my definition of these strips maybe was different from this weeks theme.
