A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Polaris SH775 Opinions??

Yes, they are about as good as it gets on the control points of the regulation. I run one with a Shorai on my Husky.....

Or you could just get a SH-232 or a SH-532 and have a bolt in replacement that includes leadwires. It will work just as well.

Yeah, up until the sh 232 dies after only 10+ years of ownership. Then it's time for the sh775

Of course this is a tongue in cheek response. Shortly after my purchase of my 79 1000, I bought one of those Honda regulators from duaneage. Straight forward swap and worked quite well most of two decades.

Those Honda version Shindengen's are solid pieces, but they don't protect your stator like a SH775.

Would I be able to safely run a lithium ion battery on my gs1000 with one of these reg/recs ?
already got a nice anti gravity battery that I just removed from my 1200 scrambler, be a shame not to use it

bumping an old thread, curious how this went for you before i go the LI-ION route

I was under the impression that those batteries don't want to see more than 14 VDC. If true, the SH775 wouldn't be a good solution, because they charge at 14.5 VDC. What the SH775 does do well, is protect your stator from over heat damage. I'm unaware of any shunt type stator, whether 14.0 or 14.5 VDC that will do that.

Nessism thanks that's good food for thought. I'm not married to the LI-ION, just looking at ideas to make an electronics box where my air box would have been and the size makes a big difference.

Well it was working fine for about a month,
then I accidentally shorted the battery and totally fried it, dead as a dodo,
I replaced it with a regular lead acid battery

thanks for the lesson i think?!
I'm going to keep this build simple i think and just go stock. I have a completely dismantled 650 in the shed that will get the full cafe experience next winter.

I accidentally ordered a non-original one. I was sure it was genuine until it got here. Anyway, I got the triumph wiring harness and am proceeding with installing it. If it gives me trouble, my buddy has a real one for Polaris/Indian in stock. 1981 GS1100E
