PVC Wheelie Bars

Ive been looking for a set of bars and was thinking again (dangerous).

My hardware store is having a great sale on PVC piping that I just can't pass up.

So how much do I need to buy to build a set of bars. I got the glue I got the hacksaw and for the wheels I'll just use a pipe inside of another just like Fred Flintstone.

I think I can build a set in 10 minutes.

At the track just look for the bike with the 50 foot bars, that will be me dead or alive.

I have never seen anyone try this before. Are you wanting them for looks, or to be functional? Why not just get some Alum. or Moly?
If you try the plastic route, post your design.

You'll want the highest Schedule Number you can find but mounting them will be difficult. The pipe isn't telescopic enough to fit together the way you want it, I've always travelled with a truck load of adapters when I worked on the stuff. What happens if they break? You'll need to go through all the scenarios and decide if the risks are acceptable to you and the spectators. Oh yeah, cut it with a pipe tool so the ends are square since this allows the best fit in the fittings. A crooked cut means less glued area.

I think it would be a better joke if you show some pictures with you showing up at the track with them. They don't need to be 50' to get a good laugh.

I'll glue some together and mount them on my son's XR80. That would get a laugh or two, a 30 sec drag bike with long bars.
