DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Exactly Grimly.
The alert organic trike awaits the imminent arrival of something unknown. A suspenseful pregnant pause with a sense of foreboding.
When an image produces a response beyond an appreciation of its graphic and technical properties it enters the realm of art. I think.

I think all photography is Art. like all forms, it can be good or bad or in between, and some become epics. They all tell a story, (like art does), for those who take them, but like those 2 with the fog they conjure up feelings that appeal to our flight or fight response and that causes our imagination to run wild.......great pics. Inspiring

Do show us that when done.

So I live in a house owned by the church, and they literally built it like fifty years ago, and yeah, there was an intercom system.

It didn't work when I moved in, but there were receivers in each of the three bedrooms, plus one in the laundry room and one in the rec room.

I fiddled around with them a teeny bit but not very much, and I ended up removing all the hardware except the one in the kitchen.
I kind of plan on renovating the kitchen at some point, therefore I didn't bother removing the intercom thing. yet.

Woulda been cool to have it working.

Scott. The attention to detail you put in your work looks fantastic.

Ah, nice woodworking .... and art work.

Nice looking wood(s).
Basswood for the carving artwork, beacuse of its light color, and/or maybe some characeristic for the carving ?
Carve with knife blade or rotating tool (dremel)?

Although Basswood is technically considered a hardwood, it is still fairly soft in that it allows for easy carving with hand tools.

A snapshot of a spruce grouse which casually and randomly meandered within 2 feet of my feet. They are considered 'tame' but probably it's na?vety concerning humans as they live in wilderness areas. Their interesting natural camouflage is sophisticated though.

There are at least two optical trickeries. Countershading - at a distance form is instinctively realized by the play of light on an object - lighter on the top or sides, shadow underneath. This bird is white underneath and dark on the back which reverses what a predator would normally expect which helps to visually dissolve its shape. Disruptive design - another device designed to obliterate form by patterns of irregular and sharply contrasting blocks of color and tone which up closer separate its overall form into smaller discreet patches.

All learned from Adaptive Coloration in Animals (1940) Hugh B. Cott. His research was highly instrumental in developing camouflage for military applications.

Last minute gifts....A few 8x10s for the family.
Just have to mat and frame...

Went for morning walk along the river channel and onto the pier this morning shortly after sunrize. About 30degF and a little bit breezy.
Saw this little boat comming in from way out in the big lake.

Was wonder, if it was about 9am, and they were just now comming in, I wonder when they went out.
And thought how dedicated and enthusastic they must be about fishing to go out under such conditions - - just for fishing, for a fish. Some people are strange, eh.
