DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Oh man if I didn't have to work, that one would be easy.
Galveston is only forty miles away and they've got a few ferry's there.

im near ferries, but no time to ride out to one haha. maybe later this weekend? =p

Ferries? Maybe tomorrow depending on which way we go.:) Will be back in SW and WC Wisconsin again! Two weeks in a row .

Ferries? Well, Broad Ripple is considered the artsie section of Indy...

Rode up to Muskegon.
Yep, happend to catch it when the ferry was docked in the harbor.

Its the bigger ship in background, behind the sailboats.
I suppose you cant really tell its a ferry, so thought I should see if I could get up closer.

Only had to go past/around two signs about "Blah blah Security Level" and one "do not enter".
Here can see it says "Lake Express". IS a cross Lake Michigan Ferry. From Muskegon to Millwalkee.
IMG_4042.jpg

So this isnt a "pull-your-self-acrost-the-creek" ferry.
Is a twin hull cattermerran (or something like that) with water jet propulsion. Makes the 90 mile crossing in something like 2 1/2hours.

I Have been on-board once; at an open-house. Which may be only time I will ever be on it. Is an expensive way to avoid driving thru Chicago.

THis morning I got there as cars were driving out of it.
Sure saw a lot of Mercedes and Caddilacs and Audis and such. ANd then out came some Harleys.

(Although they are having a special this Sept & October. Motorcycles go for free. $95 per person one way.)

Here is a pic from thier website showing cars being loaded, as evidence of it being a car ferry.

SO on way back home, looking for something for the next tag.

MILITARY HELICOPTER ON DISPLAY.

THis one is a Vietnam Veterans Memorial, says U S Army.
IMG_4043.jpg

I certaily meant no disrespect by riding right onto it (mostly I wanted to get to the sunny side.)

Except for deferment a couple years, and luck of the draw a couple years, I could have been a vietnam era draftee. (was 18 in 1970).

IMG_4047.jpg

After running around takeing the pictures, I noticed the names on the various monuments. ....
I pushed bike out of there to the parking lot. ....

And walked back to look at the names some more.

>>>Later Note
Is a UH-1.
Number 958.
The local group of VVA that arranged for this found some of the actaull crew members.

next tag....

Not this, but thought it would be cool....

But this, since everyone has one nearby for an old man sport...a golf course:

IMG-20111011-00077.jpg

But, an OLD late '50s Fiat 500 on a pole or not would be too cool! :):) Golf courses abound in my area, one every 15-20 miles, this won't be too hard to do once I finish putting the bike back together....:D

i will see if i can get it tomorrow night, hopefully the pictures wont be crap..

i wont be on my gs though, i'll be riding my friend's cbr900 lol

I was sure someone would have got the tag before now. I've been out on my bike a lot, but real busy with my show schedule (theatre stuff, it's usually real dark on the way home, and I'm rushing to get there), today, if someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll have the tag.

OK, here's the golf course:

And the new tag is a sawmill, operating or not (sorry, all you desert dwellers, I thought about a gravel pit, but the sawmill showed up first:D)

OK, if nobody can find a sawmill (c'mon, all you people in the logging states) in the next couple of days, I'll post an alternative tag.:D

An orchard to grow fruit trees, and not an orchard to grow fruit....?

.

I did not know the english word for orchard so i used an online translator.:o

The orchard in the pic is to grow apples.
But if you can find an orchard to grow fruit trees that is ok for me.:D

If no one else gets off their duff before Saturday, I will have to get the orchard picture (apple) when I ride to Duluth...:D

all the orchards are 250km+ from me haha. i'll wait for one a little more accessible haha. unless a picture of a mall called 'Old Orchard' works ;D

I have an apple orchard a few miles from me. I'll try to find time tomorrow, but I have been swamped lately and it's been difficult to get out. There is also a vinyard right down the road, but the 2 lane road it is on is too heavily traveled to be able to stop for a pic.
