A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Someone had thread about how to tell the differences between a real SH775 and knockoffs. Anyone saved that thread? I searched dates back to 2018 and hadnt found it yet.

The fakes don't have "SH775" printed on the top fin. They also, typically, have black potting compound sealing the back, instead of an aluminum backplate.

From what I?ve seen in my research, the fakes don?t have the white printing on the top fin like this genuine Sh775 on my bike.

yeah. What Ed said.

My computer speakers are shot. I also see that Honda CB1100 R/Rs have the same plug set up. Think the one i saw on ebay was for a 2014???? Anyway theres options other than the SH775. I also saw the tutorial on converting honda units on bikecliffs. Click on the electrical section below the manual selections board to see the tutorial.

EDIT... Link to the honda unit with the honda part number........

That's a shunt type R/R. Use at your own risk.

how to tell the difference between shunt and series??? Honda stuff usually good was my thought.
Whats the dangers of using at my own risk...educate me

Get a SH775, it's SERIES type and helps protect your stator.

I just bought one off ebay for $25 shipped. They are out there.

Search under Can Am, Sea Doo, Polaris, Indian, Harley Davidson "regulator" and then toggle "used"

Look for SH775 printed on the top fin. If you find one that looks clean, but no photo of the top fin, message the buyer and ask.

One caution: look at the locking tabs on the plastic connector. They break off if the bike breaker is hamfisted.

Thanks Ed.. im so lost when it comes to understsanding what the he@!## im looking at. Maybe we need a sticky at the top of the electrical forum with a list of known acceptable units can be used.

I think the BA units were Polaris, the AA units were SeaDoo.

One other quick thing to look for is those little round 'towers' shown in Rich's picture.
They are only on the real ones.

As Ed mentioned, the quickest way to sort through is to only look for "used" and posibly add "US only" for location.
