A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I'm looking for a spoked front wheel for my 81 gs650 bobber. Anyone know what will fit? I'm guessing I can get a wheel from any older gs and bolt it right on.

Aww, c'mon, Tom, dig through all his past posts like the rest of us have to. :p

This is what you will find: (it's his "before" picture)

Yeah, it's a "G".

.

so if I get one from a 750 or 1000 it should fit. Any one know if the spacers and rotor are the same? I know I've seen drag bikes that have been swapped to spokes from the mags. thanks for the help guys.

Well, don't misplace your original parts in this conversion- many of us like collecting spares.

G model???

No spokes for you!!

Not exactly true. If you can locate Madura wheels, they can be made to work, front and back. Not so sure that some of the newer Intruder spokes may also work. The Madura's had the added benefit of flattened spokes:-& which are even more fun to keep clean and polished.

Good luck on the search, the Maduras were fairly rare and you would want the gv1200 since it had a rear disk brake.

I found a couple madura rear wheels. How much work does it take to make work? I'm guessing the splines are the same? It would be awesome to be able to run spokes front and rear. I'm gonna get an older 750 front and make it work. I was hoping to run a 21" but it's gonna take to much to make it work.

I am not sure, I just know that Madura riders wanted to convert to mags. The Madura forum may have info on the reverse, maybe you can check with them to see what they do to make them fit. It may not be too difficult to use Madura wheels, the axle diameter is the same as the 650 which is a plus. I am pretty sure the splines will line up without fuss. Small hurdle is the rear is a 16 inch if I remember, not much change from your 17".

I haven't been there for a while, but it was a really decent discussion board. Just a quick check in the repair everyone should know has a conversion to mags, check it out.

well I drove for 2 hours yesterday to pick up a rear wheel from a madura. Got there to find out it was wrong. So I'm back on the hunt.

found out that a gt500 front wheel fits perfectly. way cheaper on ebay than a gs spoked wheel.
