A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Yeah, but does anyone know who Stan originally got idea from before they were banned.

Stan wasn't " banned " ... He passed away...... As far as I know it was his idea though I don't remember the details when it was discussed.... There was some membership discussion of the name to give our little traveler but I don't recall who came up with the name " Stator " ........

What made you think Stan was banned? He passed away recently from what I think was cancer (but I could be wrong). I don't remember who actually came up with the idea but I do remember it was borrowed from a group that did something similar.

Stan passed from brain cancer if memory serves...
Stator was named as a result of a poll that was posted here. Other options were luminaries from the early days of GSR.
I think the idea was a take on a Kawasaki riders group that passed a flag along.

I had a feeling Stator would like this place.

He never turns down a free ride.

Just one of the guys!

I didn't mean Stan was the one banned, I meant the person he got the idea of having some Mascot or item that traveled around to members all over was banned not Stan.

I remember Stan acknowledged were the idea came from at some point but after the person was banned, the posts were deleted, which was probably a good idea so not to tarnish the idea.

Flyboy had the idea. Colin Green here in NZ bought Stator and sent him on his way - to me. At that point he had front and rear badges pinned on. My wife sewed them on. He got his first run on a racetrack and loved it. The little so and so has never looked back, LOL

No idea what happened to Colin Green. He was at the other end of NZ to me and I've never met him. He was active on a Kiwi forum but has dropped off that one too.

Yes,

What he said.

I remember Stan starting a tread to bounce the idea and that other forums and or clubs had mascots.

I can't find that tread.....Must be gone for some reason.

Then there was a tread to find a name. Some wanting another animal type.
Stator was the definite favourite as "Stators" are the bane of our life as GS owners.
Always making themselves known and being troublesome.

Stan was very much active on the forum and then he wasn't.

I then found out that he had died after a bout with brain cancer. RIP my friend. Heaven, for you, will be filled with motorcycles, aircrafts and relatives.

His forum status has recently changed to "Guest" from being inactive.

I couldn't remember Colin's name until I saw it in print. I don't think he was banned but I do remember him expressing displeasure with the forum or some of the members here and planning on leaving. I often hoped he would pop back on and comment on the travels of his Bear. RIP Stan and thanks Colin!

Colin was pretty controversial on the other forum where I saw him. A rabid anti-vaccer for one thing. He wasn't banned there AFAIK, just dropped off.

Yeah, he's been hanging out here. I'm sure he'd like to go someplace cooler though. I'm hoping that next weekend on my birthday I'll be able to show him around the Northeastern part of New Mexico. Maybe head up to Raton and turn right. I've never been up there before.

We took Stator fishing this weekend at El Vado Lake. Pretty slow day, but real nice weather. We caught two small mouth and one large mouth bass.

Stator got a little sun but not even a bite for him. He had a bell on his pole tip in case he nodded off.

I see Stator goes fishing with all the gear....Can't be too careful. The fish might be bigger than him.

I thought bears fished by going on all four in the river.
Primitive bears anyway. not sophisticated ones.

EDIT

I am guessing the can of beer is on his left?

Stator is so multi facetted, he even kicked my but in golf. Caught him looking out on the ocean wishing he had his surf board.

Stator may go visit another local member for a while. Andy Vanice lives across town from me and is interested in hosting the little guy. He actually replied to this thread shortly after it started, but to my knowledge has never seen Stator.

So Stator's projected schedule looks like another month and a half or so in Albuquerque then possibly to Oklahoma where Chuck Hahn express interest in having him near the end of October.

Hope that sounds good to you guys.

Here's a pic from last weekend's trip to Pie Town, NM.

Stator has left the building.

This may be the shortest distance he's ever gone to be with another member, about five miles.

Here's a shot of Stator jumping from my bike to Andy's.
