DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Stator, The GSR travelling mascot.

Ok, I finally got Stator out for a ride at his starting point in Auckland New Zealand.

I Took some videos but they need to be clipped to make anything watchable and that will have to wait until I spend some time on the desk top (which has a copy of video converter loaded) over the coming week.

In the meantime ....

The starting point for Stator was to figure how best to pillion him. The following photos show a few options we tried.

He didn't appear impressed by my first suggestion and the second wasn't thought much better.

but we worked through the options and settled on this one.

Once that was settled we got under way and went through the back of Browns Bay, then Rothesay Bay before we passed the Murrays Bay beach on our way through to Mairangi Bay for a couple of photos... (Hopefully a short version video of the highlights of this leg will follow soon)

We then headed off through the back of Campbells Bay and Castor Bay for a quick stop at the Milford Marina (behind the beach) for a couple of photos of the old yachts.... (Again, hopefully a short version video of the highlights of this leg will follow soon)

Then on through Takapuna and via the motoway and harbour bridge over to the waterfront of the inner harbour on Tamaki Drive for a couple more photos. (Again, hopefully a short version video of the highlights of this leg will follow soon)

That's it for now. Will see what I can do in the way of videos to fill this post out some more.

I am waiting to hear back from a couple of local GSR'ers to sort his handover and hopefully they will do a better job of showing him the town.

Is it just me or does he look p*ssed? You didn't get him at the Harley dealership, did you?

Awesome ride report Colin, many thanks, stunning part of the world you live in, I am jealous.
The bar is set right up there.

No ATTGATT for the bear? Can't he at least have a little leather helmet or something?
That's probably why he looks angry, you scared him riding ike a maniac and him with no protection at all.

I believe the intention is that he accumulates the gear he needs during his travel as part of his international flavouring and that safety pinned badges etc (such as those he currently has) can be sewed on by the members who dress him.

Surplus souvenirs can travel with him in his carry on bag so they stay part of his collection.

Best you start knitting eh!:)

By the way, that is a very good looking ride Stator is reclining upon.

Do we have a stator status?

As a point of reference, over at KZRider we are relaying a flag across North America. It started last spring, and is presently about to make another trip across the border to Ontario, British Columbia. We should be complete by late fall or early spring.

Also, we decided our flag should be accompanied by a log book. Everyone signs in, puts their user name, bike they are riding, miles traveled, etc.
Just something to think about.

If I can get my paws on him in the next 10 days he can make the trip from the USA to the UK although it would be a while before I could transport him back... :)

He should be down in Christchurch with Greg T (the stomping grounds of the Briton Motorcycle) by now. He has a travel log and a jar of Marmite with him.

Greg has a some racing planned for him  before heading down the line to Dunedin for the Burt Munro (Worlds Fastest Indian) bike race meeting.

Looking forward to the pictures as I will once again not make it down:cry:

The plan at present is to do a couple of race meetings locally then he goes back to Auckland for the Barry Sheene classic and post classic race meeting late October. Back down South for the Burt Munro in Invercargill late November.
Then I assume to Aussie for their riding season.

The Barry Sheene at Hampton Downs, Auckland and the Burt Munro always have a good turnout of GS and GSX machinery and owners so i'd imagine plenty will meet him...Any Aussies coming over for the Burt Munro ?

Be sure and post some pics of his journey.
Riders can be included also if you wish....;)

Well! Did he win the race?

Well due to changes of plan, all we've had time for before stator goes North to the barry Sheene meeting at Auckland, was a day's testing and running in at the local track. Those who have seen the video online - GS1000 racing - will know what it's like - and Kevin's propensity for wheelies...

Anyway, he's had a baptism of fire - been wheelied, slid, laid darkies out of corners and seen the top side of 120mph...whatever comes next should be a walk in the park...

He's off tomorrow to GS58 to take to Auckland and hopefully meet a lot of GS'ers.

Quick update.

gs58 (Paul) has Stator at the Barry Sheene race meeting this long weekend in Auckland and will be heading back to Christchurch. when he is done.

I believe he was going to try to hook up with 49er on his way up past Napier and also with Bill Alexander so it with a bit of luck we may see a few pics of the Lads saying hi to Stator soon.

Paul should be in touch with ozman (see post below) over this coming week (or maybe Simon Kuether) to make arrangements to get him on his way to Oz for a spin around the outback.

at huge expense ive arranged a welcome guide for Stator

he is just saying goodbye to the rickman i just sold

I see ozman regularly and after he returns from the outback I'll take him through some of our mountain areas and if he behaves I might even take him to The Boxing Day Test.
