    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'm getting ready to pass Stator on to Steve. I wish I could say it was a fun filled summer, but that is not the case with me. I've been layed up since July 1st with Gout in my wrist (a form of arthritis). The doctor tried a small does of Prednisone. Then a larger dose of Prednisone. The Prednisone helped my wrist feel better but only temporary. I'm off the Prednisone and I'm on a different medicine, I hope this medicine helps. Next step is some sort of surgery and I don't want that. With all these nice evenings and weekend plans I had, I've been stuck at home. I was planning on riding up to Port Clinton this weekend with Stator to ride in the "Tin Goose". That's not going to happen. So, I'll be sending Stator to Steve in the next week...

Oh, Sorry to hear that. I know you did have such a problem at one time. Sorry to hear it is continouing.

Highway_glider is wondering if he can meet up with the person that has Stator, in order to obtain Him for his trip the length of Route 66.

Yep, there is a small box of trinkets, mementos and a logbook that go along with him.

I am in the process of writing up his (abbreviated) travels with us, but have no immediate travel plans for the near future.

Shall we meet somewhere or will a Postman be involved?

What kind of a timeline is involved?

Steve, H_G is currently staying with us and as far as I know, there is no timeline to when he's leaving. If Stator comes with more than Danielle has room for on his trip, I may have to make arrangements to have the extras shipped to my place so he can pick them on His way back to Montreal. I'll let you know tomorrow what his thoughts are.
 
Hey all.

Stator and Daniel here.

Sorry no pics for now. I do have some but they are locked in my cameras for now.
Just so you know that Strator is doing well and is actually behaving.

After picking him at Steve's place we made our way to Chicago and have been following Route 66.

We are currently in Amarillo Texas. In a motel. We got clobbered by rain in Oklahoma City and felt that a bed and electric heat was mandated.

The GK is doing well. The stator got changed at rustybronco's place before picking Stator—the bear.
The no 4 plug got fouled up yesterday. Stator helped with changing all 4.
Today a small leak on the left side got bigger. Looks like the base gasket is leaking.
The rear tire wore down a lot today. I blame that 75 mph speed limit they have in Texas.
At that rate i will need a new tire in southern California.

That's all for now.

Daniel, slightly loosening then torquing the cylinder head nuts to 40 Ft Lbs will slow the oil leak if it starts to get much worse.

Thanks for the tip. I will consider it. Those nuts are really rusty and scare me.
It's something I would rather do home. Where the consequence of a broken stud can be dealt with.

I?ve always been curious if Rt66 lives up to its lore, or is a romanticized memory of times gone by.

Some day, I hope to re-live some of MY memories, romanticized or not. :-k

Between 1963 and 1974, we lived on the west side of Chicago. Every other year, my dad took a longer vacation and we drove to visit relatives near Riverside, California. Basically followed Rt. 66 the first few times, then the freeway started taking over. It would be nice to see the few pieces of the road that are left.

Hello dorkburger. I never stopped riding, just don't log in so often.

I wanted to do route 66 because I always wanted to cross the continent all the way to LA. Hard to do with our old bikes....with mine anyway.

So far I find R66 disappointing. Steve would have nostalgia for the know to him sites. I don't have any. Never been here. Now if I could redo the trips we did every year with my dad driving and stop at the same places we always did that I would enjoy.

The distances are very long the few remaining bits are in bad shape or hard to access. Crossing the larger cities through their downtown is a bit painful. And crossing small cities with their failed business is also painful.

I do not regret the vistas. Amazing countryside. New Mexico and Arizona are amazing.

I of course stopped for sites and museum to educate our small friend. Maybe I learned something too.

In the next few days I need to find an Internet caf? and get some pictures up for you guys and gals.

Currently just outside Flagstaf AZ.

Central ave, or old 66, runs through the heart of Albuquerque. It's been run down for decades but the last two mayors have really pushed for upgrades along that stretch. I used to avoid that area with all the hotels that had hourly rates and such. Now I don't hesitate to walk the Nob Hill stroll with my wife on Saturday night. There was an area we called the war zone for decades. After a clever re-labeling by mayoral staff, it's now the "international district". Mostly comprised of Hispanic and other minority immigrants I suppose. Anyway, it's getting better but still not back to it's glory days that's for sure.

If you can, stop in Seligman, AZ. Not sure which way you're headed but that little town is a gem. We go out of our way just to pop in and see the little museums filled with vintage bikes and cars. It's the town that inspired the cartoon movie Cars. Really fun place. Maybe you already stopped there but I'll attach a photo or two for your consideration anyway.

We were heading to Ca. for a car event. We bounced on and off the interstate here and there and happened upon it.
