Sticking Rear Brake Pedal

Hope this is the right forum anyway... My rear brake pedal is sticking. I push it and it stays down brake engaged. I checked the fluid did notice that it was empty so I filled it. Sprayed all the joints and connections with WD-40 and PB Blaster. Still sticking. Does this sound like a Master Cylinder Rebuild? What else should I check? Thanks ahead of time.

How about a little history?
What maintenance if any has been done?
Do you need to grease the pivot?
If you release the pressure by cracking open a bleed screw, does the pedal return by itself?

What does the brake fluid look like? Clear? Dark rum? Coffee? Brown Sugar?

At very least I'd take everything apart and clean it. Its messy but its easy.

Mine was doing the same thing. The hole that the pivot goes into was loade with rust. Took it apart and cleaned and greased it now it works fine.

Remove the plunger and spring from the inside arm on the pedal pivot shaft.

Remove the pedal from the shaft.

Knock the shaft out of the frame.

Clean and lube the shaft and frame.

Re-assemble in reverse order.

Ride SAFELY.

That's right ladies and gentlemen....Kparkfan hit the proverbial nail on the head. I did not have rust in the pivot but the grease that was in there got some crap in it making it more sticky then slick. Cleaned it up coated it in motor oil (because I did not have any grease on hand) and put it back together and whamo she works like a charm. Have not had the chance to test them on the road to make sure everything else is working well but it stops it from rocking in the garage... The weather is absolutely horrible so I will have to wait and check them on the road tomorrow hopefully. Thanks again for everyone's response.

Hopefully, when you do it, it will be because you scheduled it, not because it locked up on you again.

You really need to get some good grease in there so it will last a while.
